My son is 5. He threw up Tuesday night, 4 or 5 times over about half an hour. When he was done, he said he felt fine. He wasn't running fever or anything, so we just put him to bed. Wednesday morning he woke up happy, felt good, so we sent him to school. He was fine all day Wednesday, ate normally, went to bed, slept all night. This morning he was still fine, and was fine all day, ate normally, but then he threw up again tonight. Once again, when he was finished he said he felt fine, no fever, no other symptoms, so now he's in bed.

So he's had 2 bouts of vomiting almost 48 hours apart, and between them he acted and felt fine. He ate different things today and tonight than he ate on Tuesday. Both times he's acted like his stomach hurt pretty bad, though he's been known to be a little dramatic.

Is it a virus that took a break? Two different illnesses and just a coincidence? Or does he possibly have a more serious problem? Should we take him to the doc tomorrow even if he seems fine? No one else in the family has gotten sick.

What did he eat prior to each episode? My acid reflux has caused me to regurg/vomit with certain types of food.

Think back and see what he ate/drank those 2 evenings. That should be first and foremost. The fact that he is just throwing up and fine after should make you feel a little better about the situation. See how it plays out the next couple days.

Im not a doctor by the way, but I know my stuff.

Do not trust the OT for this. It's your son. Please take him to a pediatrician.

Differential diagnosis includes, but is not limited to, gastroenteritis, reflux, obstruction, food intolerance/allergy, upper respiratory infection, other viral illness not otherwise specified, and/or malingering. Take him to a human physician as clinically indicated.

Yeah you came to the right place. Pay the RN no attention. Sounds like your boy ate some bad cereal or something.

Honestly take him to see the pediatrician like Jenn said.

It's pretty clear to me that he is just drug seeking.

Nothing out of the ordinary for him. He doesn't eat a wide variety of stuff. Tonight he ate a hotdog and Tuesday he ate some chicken nuggets or something.

Could be his appendix. Take him to see a Dr.

Oh I don't trust the OT, I just wanted to talk it out, maybe get some ideas. I'm going to call the ped in the morning no matter how he feels.

I would schedule him to see a doctor, but I also wouldn't rush him to the emergency room. I actually dealt with this last week and it seemed to be acid reflux, but I'm also not 5 so take that for what it's worth.

Is he still pooping ok?

Anything that looks like blood in the vomit or is it a green color?

How soon after eating does he vomit? Is it maybe he's eating super fast?

Poops are still typical.

Nope, both times it was basically just the undigested last meal he ate.

Tuesday it was about 5 hours (though he might have had some applesauce maybe an hour before vomiting), today about 2 hours.

Nah, this kid is the slowest eater I've ever seen. I basically have to remind him to eat between every bite.

Eating, drinking, happy, no fever? See your pediatrician tomorrow if you're concerned. Their job is to make sure your son is OK and make sure that you realize he is OK. It's never wrong to at least call if not go in the following morning.

Throwing up enough that he's not interested in drinking and/or <3 wet diapers in last 24h? Head to the ED tonight.

Get some sleep. Kids vomit a lot.
