Do you tip baristas?

Does their pay rely on tips?
If you do tip:
do you buy coffee daily and have rapport with the barista?
do you tip more because you get a fru-fru drink over black coffee?
I might buy coffee from a coffee shop 3 times a month, maybe. I'm just curious as to your practices
ETA: I usually tip $1

I think it depends on how your place runs.
If you are given a cup to fill up the coffee yourself, I see it going two ways:
1) if you are a regular and know the people and use their internet and whatnot, you'd just give them bills and don't want change.
2) if you don't go there, then you pay with a card or get change back.

No. Tipping is for service. It's for doing things for you over an extended period of time. All a barista does is take your order and make your coffee. Do you tip the person who bags your groceries at Wal-Mart? Because that's the same thing as tipping a barista.
