I'm talking about those blendy things.. the blizzard type drinks, Sonic Blasts. They aren't just poured from a machine. They have to be made individually. Most other places don't serve those types of items, and they aren't as popular at the one place that does (McFlurry at McDonalds). At night, I'd say 1 out of every 3 people order an ice cream item at Sonic.

So if you order burgers for the family and everyone gets a Sonic Blast with it, your burgers are sitting on the counter waiting to be taken until your carhop has run all of his/her completed orders out and then has the time to make your ice cream and run your food. And all of his/her orders behind that are waiting as well because they have to run the food in the order that they come.

Basically, they need someone who specifically makes the drinks and ice cream stuff.

That's because the system they have in place is shite. The carhops have to make drinks, slushies, and all ice cream items--which keeps them from running food during busy times.

Sounds like a sonic problem, not a I should give you more money problem

When did I imply that's why you should tip?
I said that is why the wait time is long.

On a side note, it might have been my age but more people made me cry working there when I was 16 than any other instance in my life. People are massive pieces of shite.
One man with a long ponytail called the cops on me because he lost his credit card and was convinced I stole it. 80lb 16 year old girl who is crying because you're cursing and yelling at her stole your credit card.. right, dude.
I got suspended for a week for calling my dad to come when he called the cops too! Psycho people.

Felt like the implication was there, but we usually agree in these tipping threads so it works 0

Well they should do so. I don't owe their fast food workers a tip because they have an inefficient system.

I already did, but you responded to my post where I asked why Sonic workers deserve a tip, so I'm sure you understand the confusion.

Ah. I see.

I try to tip $1 when I have it.

I always tip to-go in full service restaurants. I think offering to-go service is doing people a favor and I don't know that I'd even offer it if I had a restaurant.

Wouldn't it make more sense to tip the owner in that case then?

It is very often a bartender or server who isn't being paid minimum wage doing the to-go orders. I know that isn't the customer's fault, but neither is the fact that servers are paid $2 and they still tip them.

At my old work, you got more than $2.13, but it was still only $5/hour. So you were still relying on a certain percentage of your customers to tip. And you never made anywhere near what you made waiting tables.

Every place is different. Some have their bartender doing it while working. At ours, a server was assigned to "to-go" shift so that was the only money they were making that day.

I don't tip what I would sitting down, but I tip something. You're right, though. Maybe they should just charge $1 service charge on all to-go orders. Would help the server, would justify the extra work that to-go service requires, and would eliminate tipping.

Did not know that. I'm gonna have to start tossing them a couple bucks.

I never got upset over no tip from a normal to-go order, but there were a couple offices who called in and ordered for ~20 people once a week, made us write each person's name on their to-go box so they knew whose was whose, and then paid for each item individually. The entire process probably had half an hour devoted to it between taking the order with each name, boxing and bagging the food, labeling the boxes, and running 20 individual payments.

And those bitches never tipped. Not even a dollar.

If you don't tip for your burger, fine. I probably won't even remember or notice. If you do the crazy shite listed above and don't tip, you can die.
