Yes. Bought it with the house. Would not have paid to put it in. I love it. Swim almost everyday from May to mid October. Nothing beats floating around with a beer after work.

Yes and I can’t stand it. A giant hole that I throw money into

Yes, and if you have young kids it’s totally worth it. Mine spend entire weekends and most evenings in the summer in the pool.
Mine also has a spa and a heater so they even use the spa in the colder months.
I imagine when they hit high school age they will use it much less.
Not a pain as I have a service for keeping it clean and balanced and the inspect pumps and service the filter twice a year.
I just keep the sweeper bag and the skimmers empty. The frequency is higher this time of year with all the leaves but not a PITA.

they're not bad. i've had two. like anything else in life, a few minutes a day in maintaining saves alot of heartache.
that's actually my downtime, come home, radio on, toddy on rocks, frick around with the pool. kids absolutely love it.
this second one we built i have about $25k in. my first we put about about $45k in and would never do that again.

Frick yes it is.
The kids play in it constantly.
It’s hot for 9 months of the year.
There is something great about watching LSU football and baseball games while floating in the pool with a beer.
When the kids friends come over, you get to see the other moms in bikinis.
You can frick your lady in the pool whenever you please.
The upsides to a pool so greatly out weigh the negative.

Nah I own a cabin on a lake.

Don't own one. Wife wants to put one in. I don't want
To spend $60k on something that could basically make the house un-sellable.
I'd rather put that money toward building a new house.

We just bought a house with a pool in July and I spent the entire rest of the summer trying to correct the algae neglect from the previous owners. Now that I've gotten it under control, maintaining it doesn't seem so bad, but it costed a fortune to get to this point and it will kick your electricity bill right in the nuts.
I'd agree with the folks with kids, though. We have two under 5 and they freaking love it (invested in a pool fence too). If it weren't for the kids, I'd probably just prefer to downsize to one of those endless pools that I could use to exercise in and pretty much nothing else, assuming one of those would be less of a headache.

Yes, it's worth it if you have a custom designed to compliment your landscape. Meaning, when it's not in use, it should be aesthetically pleasing.

Yes. We put our pool in last year along with an outdoor kitchen. All in pool, kitchen, and landscaping (since that shite is expensive and not included in price of pool) was over $100k. Pool and landscaping was ~$85k.
Maintenance is twice a week (liquid chlorine once a week) and check chemicals brush once a week is not bad, but You have to keep it up or it can getaway from you and you have a few hours to get it back to stable.
Kids love it, wife loves it, and I can sit outside watching the games with the kids in pool and hot tub and have a really good weekend.

Yes and yes.
I live in central Florida where it’s balls hot 10 months of the year. I couldn’t stand it here if I didn’t have a pool. Nearly all the homes in my community have pools.

I am in SW FL and when we put the spa in we put up a cage. Why does no one do this in LA? I never remember seeing pool cages. Screening it in is awesome, no bugs. We can sit out back, watch the game and not get eaten alive. My childhood home in BR had a screened in back porch, but it doesn't seem common in places it should be.

Yes, and I have a pool guy that manages all the hassle.

Yes and yes. Said I never would do it - know it’s a terrible investment - but we spend so much more time outside during the summer rather than inside in the AC. Not as much hassle as the boat was - maintenance can be a chore if you get behind.
Still a bad “investment”, but I got my money’s worth out of use.
