I like my lone time. The wife knows this and she just let me be. We are both retired now, so alone time can be a bitch.

I'm not as socially stunted as I'm making myself out to be, but the thought of being alone in a bar with no "out" from conversing with strangers makes me kinda twitchy.

I used to travel a lot for work, always alone. I'd be stuck at an airport bar or in a hotel and would just hang out and chat with whomever was available.

Was chatting with a guy in the Burbank airport bar one day waiting for my flight out. He was a baseball scout form Oakland. We started talking baseball, he asked where I was from. Told him I was an LSU alum. He said he loves LSU girls, they know their baseball and their football.

My wife absolutely cannot be alone. She wants me to do everything with her. Its exhausting, but I love her for it.

I'll never understand it though. She doesn't like running to the pharmacy down the street alone or going to the gym alone or anything that most people don't think twice about doing alone.

My life

I can't even be in another room most of the time. She'll always ask what I'm doing, or why don't I want to sit in the living room while she watches TV.

mine too, but I tell you brothers it can be managed. Encourage your wife to do things with her friends twice a week and then you get a respite. Or just tell her to leave you alone.

What gets me is that she can't go to the pet store alone but like hell she will go to the grocery store with me.

that's crazy to me

my fiance thoroughly enjoys her alone time

I feel lucky that she encourages me to play 18 instead of 9 holes so she can work out and watch netflix on a sunday

That's why I went to college, get a ball education that I can parlay into bar small talk.

I like being around my wife and daughter.

I like being alone when I take a hearty one.

If only it was this easy. We're pretty social and go to happy hour with her co-workers (or classmates) a couple times a week and she'll usually ask me to go with her, which I don't mind sometimes. But, if I tell her that I don't want to go, she'll usually stay home too.

oh I'm aware

plenty of our friends have kids

we aren't even married yet and both late 20s, so hopefully we have a little time to enjoy being newlyweds before going down that road

I'm married with two kids and I could probably be gone for a week before my wife realized I'm not there.

my fiance has a twin sister and they've always been very close. As long as we are in the same city, I know she will always want to spend time with her sister without me there. Kids or not.

Grew up an only child. Love and need alone time. Like traveling alone. I'm pretty resourceful.

Me too. My wife does not understand this and gets pretty hurt sometimes. Like I said, I'm a sociopath, so I get pretty robotic when she cries. "um... there, there"

I am up later than my fiance for an hour or 2 every night and enjoy the time to myself. She is up earlier than me as well. With my line of work and general lifestyle, I find it relaxing to have my nights alone.

My husband works a M-F 9 to 5 type job. I work 3 12 hour night shifts(7p to 7a) a week. Both of us are the types that thrive on having enough alone time. I know he loves having 3 nights every week where he can just relax at home and have the living room to himself to watch whatever he wants on tv. There have been nights where my shift got cancelled at work and he looks almost kinda disappointed about it..."oh, you aren't working tonight"

On the flipside, I go to bed later than him and I'm like you...I like the alone time as well. Also I have days off during the week and can enjoy the house to myself while he's at work.

I love spending time with him on my days/nights off, love date nights with him, love traveling with him...but I just need breathing room as well. We spend too much time together...we start fighting with each other over the stupidest shite.
