Anybody know somebody that always lands on their feet despite the situation? Is that state of mind or are some people just born lucky?

Everyone has troubles in life. Some more than others.

I think people that are considered to have "charmed lives" are those that either: a) are able to persevere through them and keep a positive outlook, or b) are much better at hiding the things that are negative in their life from others.

See I think this is a weird statement...why wouldn't you just be like, wow good for them. Instead you're wondering how they have good fortune.

I have learned that some people are just better able to mask the real situations they are dealing with. Never look at someone else with envy and think "man, they have it soooo made"....cause I'm sure they have things they are struggling with that you have no clue about.

You mean white people? Or specifically not minorities?

yeah. The people that appear to have no problems are the ones (often) with the biggest problems. they just hide it.

With that said, some people are just plain lucky. Chances are you are on the them, if you are posting here.

But being born rich, and healthy is a big boon. Actually just not poor and/or sick.

I hit the proverbial jackpot in life. granted my childhood was sorta fricked up, but middle class white male that is good at math, and relatively healthy. I have so much in my life that is just flat out awesome, and my problems are really small for the most part.

I have one friend that seems to have a golden horseshoe up his arse. However, I also know that he works hard and consistently makes good decisions to put himself in the position for good fortune.

While I am a big proponent that people make their own luck, that doesn't fully explain the kinds of things that's happened to him throughout his entire life. I mean this is a guy who goes fishing for the first time in a year and catches a Star Tagged Redfish on his first cast just days after he registered, that kind of shite still remains a mystery to me.

Some people have said this about me, over the years. I'm not quite sure I believe it, because I don't believe I've had luck my whole life. BUT...

I've had a couple of major setbacks in life that probably would have ruined some people. Just being honest. It hasn't ruined me. In fact, each time, I've ended up better off than before.

The trick is being able to understand and accept change. It takes strength to turn the page and begin new journeys. Some people just don't have that, for whatever reason.

Me? If there's one gift I can say that God gave me, it's the ability to roll with the punches and keep going. It's a damn fine gift to have. I might not be as rich or as smart or as good looking as the average OT'er, but I bounce. I'll take that.

Definitely. Seems like a large portion of my friends have it very easy from my point of view. Very few aspects of my life top their's.

my youngest son (just turned 12) has incredible luck when it comes to "chance happenings"

like his name always seems to get pulled for raffles.
by sheer luck of right time/right place, he got pictures with and autographs from the entire starting baseball lineup a few years back.
he's had Hunter Pence throw him a game used baseball and caught a foul ball hit by Ryan Theriot at an Astros/Cards game a few years back.
