Do all Cops call for a tow truck at the scene of an Accident in BR?

My Niece got in an fender bender in BR, no one got a ticket, but we got her AAA, but the cop called for a tow truck that was going to cost $200+. She told the female cop she didn't want it and she was going to call AAA. Cop said If AAA got there first ok, but tow truck was already on the way. She's not sure the name of the company, but they stole some stuff out of her car. Sounds like a racket to me.

That's the thing, cop didn't say anything, cop called for a tow truck all on her own, didn't ask my niece at all.

Doesn't matter, you do what the cop says to do, regardless of whether they say it or not. Don't play stupid games, don't get stupid prizes.

I'm sorry but why AAA? Shouldn't your insurance tow the vehicle to a collision center?
I'm not sure why the cop called a tow unless the accident was blocking traffic and they needed it cleared asap

Was her car blocking traffic? In that case, I can see how the first tow truck to get there must take the vehicle in order to get traffic flowing and get a dangerous situation off of the road. However, if the vehicle was out of the way then she should have been able to wait for the tow company she preferred.

I am sure people of the OT will want to bash the cops here but as someone who sits in BR traffics everyday I applaud this. Get the nearest tow truck and clear the damn road. Not going to inconvenience every other driver so she can wait on Joe Bobs AAA towing.
