This notion that civil rights came along entirely peacefully is what helps the ignorant sleep peacefully at night.
Pretty sure churches were bombed, people were hung, leaders were asssinated, women and children were hosed down and jeered at, etc.
If it makes you sleep better at night and feel better about the carnage of yesteryear..so be it but it's ignorant to be quite honest.

If race relation means appeasing prejudice people and make sure black people fix themselves, not for themselves, but to appease others fears, then no it won't. It won't and it hasn't.

No.... Peaceful protest by blacks people . I'm trying to give African Americans a compliment that in the 60's and 70's the majority of them followed MLK's ways and took the peaceful approach.
Everyone knows there was violence from the white people's side.

Well, it'd be a massive frickin start. Aside from really old people who grew up in a completely different era, I don't think any regular person is truly racist towards skin color "just because". What I mean is I don't think many people say in their head walking down the street "that guy is black, I instantly know that I don't like him because he is a different color than me". The reason white people have the view they do of black people is based on years and years of data and personal interactions with how they act as a whole. Looters, vandals, murderers, theives, carjackers, gang members, robbers....these people are overwhelmingly non-white.
I'm not saying white people are perfect, obviously. But if black people "got their shite together", as you phrased it, it would give people far, FAR less reason to have the mindset they do. What do you think the overall, general mindset of white people in America RIGHT NOW, this very second, is towards black people as a whole? It's probably pretty negative. Why? Well again as of RIGHT NOW, it's because every media outlet in the country the last 3 days has been showing throngs of black people intentionally breaking the law, looting, stealing, rioting, etc. If they "had their shite together" and acted like normal human beings, the country at large wouldnt' think the way they do, right now.

Yes and then black people peacefully protested and most white people especially those with the power to enact change felt sympathy for their situation and changes happened!
No one feels sympathy for people who are beating, robbing, burning, and looting the community. They are not unified for any cause except frick whitie, frick the police and give me free shite!

It causes harm because it gives the current crop of rioters a feeling of legitmacy. In reality, they are NOTHING like those that fought through the civil rights movement of the 60s.

People should improve themselves for themselves and their immediate communities, not to appease and ease the fears of others. Point blank. Of course there were tons of great things, but the bad is questionable and can suggest disingenuity.
How do you know they aren't unified ? Are you out there with them ?
