I have the midrange and my life is awesome thanks to it.
never tasted a difference between the folgers k cups and folgers coffee.

I'll usually just keep a couple different kinds of whole beans and then one pack of instant cups when I'm in a rush

Not sure but I can tell you that their customer service is excellent. I bought the 3 cup size option one for my wife at Christmas and two weeks ago the blue under light on the large cup option went out. It still worked but just was not lit up.
I called Keurig to see if it could be fixed and they just offered to send me a brand new unit. Arrived in 4 days. Now I have one for the kitchen and our home office.

Ditto. We've had ours for years and use it literally every day, and it gets worked like a piece of farm equipment on the weekends (we drink a lot of coffee).
The only thing I dislike about mine is that I wish it had more water storage. We have big coffee cups, so you can hit the small button twice and it makes a really big cup of coffee -- using just on K-cup too -- but you have to refill the tank after about two and a half cups of that.

Yep, had almost the exact same experience.
Something went out on ours a few years ago (maybe the water heater - can't remember), so we called their customer service. They were terrific and very helpful, and they told us a few tricks to keep it going longer, like running vinegar through it once a year to totally clean it out. They just ended up sending us a new unit after our phone conversation.

Somehow mine is still running without ever cleaning it. Ive heard to run vinegar through it, but when you do, how hard is it to get the vinegar smell/taste out of the machine? Do you run a few cups of water through it after?

I'm looking on Amazon and there's multiple models of these things. What's the difference here?
The difference here is that poster #1 will learn how to brew the nectar of the gods. Poster #2 is beyond help and probably thinks his K-cup would go well with a glass of Boone's.

did i mention how great my chemex is?
Posted on 8/12/14 at 4:01 pm to CAD703X
something tells me you like chemex because french press is too mainstream

no, just a progression for me..from a donated starbucks coffeemaker to a mr. coffee..to a tassimo to the nectar of the gods
dont hate because you don't have a $35 coffeemaker that brews ambrosia for you every morning.

I have 2.
The Keurig mini is great, no maintenance, but it only makes 6 or 8 ounce.
My keurig vue makes bigger cups and is a lot nicer.

I've had a regular coffee maker, French press and toddy
Keurig is the best overall

We did it about a year ago, and I'll admit that we had to flush water through it like 20 times in order to totally get the taste/smell out. My brother did it and ended up just flushing a few K-cups through it in order to fast track the process, but it takes several runs to get it out.

I have a Platinum for both the home and office. I agree about Keurig's excellent customer service. My second purchase (gift card) was defective, and they immediately sent a new one.

I got my last one at Office Depot. It is the one with the 6, 8, and 10 oz selector switch and it also has a function to pump the water out of the interior for cleaning. We make about 4 cups a day at home and always use the 8 oz setting. The unit cost me around $120 plus tax. The first Keurig I bought was a basic two cup size home model and it lasted 4 years. The new one is an office model and the pumps on them are supposed to last longer than the home models. The cost is about $10 more for the office model.
We use filtered water in our Keurig as our tap water can get funky with chlorine, which gives the coffee a very bad taste. Filtered water also probably will extend the life of every coffee maker, not just the Keurig.

i like using the french press after dinner when I'm not in a rush, but we don't have time to use that in the mornings

chemex takes about 5 minutes tops including grinding the beans.
i put 3 cups (or 24 oz) in kettle and set the grinder on 4.
copper tea kettle boils in about 2-3 minutes (gas burner) and i just pour it in while i'm getting breakfast made.
2 pretty big cups of very tasty coffee.
