We camped with my grandparents every year when they were alive and healthy. I also took a 3 week road trip to New York and stopped at various places along the way, including Philadelphia. Great memories!

We never went to many places but Can vividly recall in 2001 , my grandad took me to a double feature after begging to see these two movies .. " The Kid" with Bruce Willis and "Rocky and Bullwinkle" with Deniro... My grandfather never took me to anymore movies and I can't say I blame him .

Trips with my grandparents was either going trawling and working the trier box or going to Fourchon and play on the beach. Always ate luncheon meat sandwiches and drank homemade root beer. Pawpaw was always drunk and mawmaw was always cursing him in French, haha!

We attended a wedding in northern Mississippi when we were younger. Not far away from Memphis. My grandmother was the biggest Elvis fan I've ever seen. Needless to say, we were there for four days, and did the Graceland tour on three of those days. Knew that whole thing by heart

One of my grandma's had a bigass farm. Loved spending weeks at a time there. I'd get up with her at 5 to start breakfast.

They had a half dozen chicken houses, pigs, cattle and crops. My favorite part was the three ponds for fishing.

Dem ladies loved them some elvis back in the day. I remembered the day Elvis died. I was 4 years old. My mom came outside into the yard where me and my twin brother were playing. She was crying her eyes out so Me and my brother started crying too.

Only ever had one grandmother, she brought me on my first airplane trip (all the way from BTR to Dallas), taught me which fork to use at fancy dinner banquets, and let me tag along on all her Post Office convention trips. She also used to let me walk to Calandro's and buy myself a Coke, since she didn't keep any in her house. Great memories.

Grandma is now 92, her sight isn't the best, but otherwise, she is a picture of health and her mind is still sharp as a tack. If I was only going to have one grandparent, she is a great one to have.

I remember my grandfather taking me to Catfish town as a kid. The big glass pavilion was really impressive to a 4 year-old. He once asked me "what's the longest word in the English language?" I'd reply with the longest word I could think of. He'd reply, "it's smiles, because every smile forms another smile, and every smile started with another smile dating back to the very beginning. Smile is the longest word because smiles never really end."

I spent a lot of time with my moms set growing up, not as much with my Dads set. Had a lot of great memories with both. Vividly remember my one and only trip to Gatlingberg, TN, Lookout Man., Rock City, Ruby Falls, Cherokee, NC, camping out in bear country. Beach trips, movies, water skiing, fishing and tubing on the Tangipohia at the family camp. Cook outs, BBQ's, Mardi Gras was always huge - dressing up as a family on MG day. Golden Memories I will never forget. Only 1 remains, grandmother on moms side. She is 88 and she is adored. We love her.

Never, not once with either set.

One had 13 kids and probably 50 grandchildren.

The other probably never went 50 miles from his home town.

I went on many vacations with just the grandparents. Two road trips out west to California. Four trips to Disney world. 5 WW2 Marine Corps reunions to different parts on the country. Looking back it was one of the most memorable times of my life.

We took the Amtrack from NO to Virginia. We had rooms in the sleeper car, and I remember when the train went around a curve, your water would spill out of your glass and peas would roll off your plate. We rented a car and drove to Charlottesville to see Monticello, Jamestown to see the settlement and fort, Colonial Williamsburg, Newport News, etc. It was a ten day trip and I celebrated my 13th birthday during that time. Awesome.

Didn't travel a lot, but lived with them every other weekend, they taught my younger brother and I many life lessons. The biggest thing I remember is that maw maw never had driven a car or owned a drivers license.

I traveled with my great-grandparents every summer for almost a decade. Each trip was the most great-grandparent trip you could possibly imagine. We went to the Alamo, Colonial Williamsburg, D.C. To see the government buildings and monuments, Hot Springs, etc.

My great-grandpa was my hero. He taught me discipline, respect, the history of LSU football, and how to play mediocre golf. He passed away a few years ago after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's. I'm just incredibly grateful to have gotten 23 years with him.

My great-grandma just turned 89 yesterday and is still sharp as a tack. She was valedictorian of Dutchtown in 1945 and ran her own small business in BR from 1961-1988, back when women simply didn't do those things.

They grew up dirt poor in Praireville. My grandma showed me her high school diploma, which was hand written. She also told me her mom used to make their clothes out of burlap sacks because they couldn't afford to buy any. Pretty awesome that she went from that to a business owner in less than 40 years.
