Yep.

They could saw it off, but why risk the extra 30 to 60 seconds? Just move on to a car without one.

I had one on my Jeep CJ-7 in the early 2000's....but that was because it had no doors and would start without a key....

Oddly enough i saw a mid-90s Mustang with one of these steering wheels locks on it yesterday. Said Mustang was in the Kroger parking lot in Bossier, not exactly a hotbed for auto thefts.

My brother lives in San Diego and uses one daily. He had a brand new Jeep stolen a few years back.

I you were stealing cars back in the day you probably had one handy.

No. You just stole the car next to it without a club. It's not that the club was impenetrable, it just put up more of a fight than the car next to it. ,

It's a good visual deterrent.
Would probably need 2 peeps for a fast theft - 1 on the steering wheel an 1 on the ignition.
Bottmline - if they really want it, they'll get it

My wife's cousin's now ex husband used one of these clubs to keep his wife from using his truck (since she had a spare key before the divorce was filed)

Used one through the 1990s, it's still riding around in my truck and the key still on my key ring. I haven't used it in years. Remember some criminals aren't smart enough to cut through a steering wheel; some are lazy and don't want to; some want to be in and out in less than the time it takes to saw through your steering wheel.

Plus, it came with a guarantee if the club was on the vehicle and it was stolen.

Lots of folks used them back then and they were pretty effective. thieves are some lazy frickers and would likely not mess with a car if they say one. even during that time, most people bought them with good intentions, but just eventually quit messing with them out of laziness.

you have to remember, these were the days before every car came with a factory alarm system.

Yes, and it made us feel better in New Orleans because the car was an automatic.

When you say just use a hacksaw, have you ever used a hacksaw to cut through a piece of 1/2" rebar? It's not a quick solution.

As mentioned, thieves are thieves because they are lazy and don't want to work. They just move on to the next car if they see a club because it's too much work.
