Did you know your local legislators give away full ride scholarships to Tulane?

They can give it away to anyone. No real guidelines on who gets it. Just be connected or know to ask for it. 144 free scholarships at $49,000. Not a bad deal if you get hooked up.

Yeah I was in line to get it for 3 years, but chose a different school. They can only do 1 at a time so during my freshman year, it was already given to someone else.

My grandpa went to church with Robert adley, a senator from bossier and I got it.

I worked at the Capitol for 3 years of high school.

And there’s less than 144 available every year, because most legislators choose to give theirs to the same student for their full 4 years. Don’t sell me short.

Kind of a strange tradition given Tulane is a private school. Does LSU have something similar? I wonder how this started?

Yeah, I guess it's Tulane's way of lobbying for support in BR.

Tulane was a public school originally. Which is where this “tradition” began.

I wonder how many of those 144 scholarships end up being given to the kid of a friend, relative or close business associate...or involve some sort of kickback. O/U 140

Most of the ones I knew had requirements to keep it but if you met them you could keep it all 4 years.
