I'm in Ireland right now and EVERYONE is taking about this. A hurricane has never hit Ireland before. Ever.

It is still projected to become extratropical before it hits Ireland.

Is this surprising in 2017?
Seems like every storm intensified more than expected.
Will be interesting to see what factors are determined to cause this phenomenon this year.

I doubt in 1851 they knew nearly as much about hurricane tracks, strength or pressures like Ed know now with satellites and planes.

How is that even possible? Upper air really cold to allow cooler water to support enough convection?

It's been a wild season for sure.
