Did you ever really miss home, and truly got home sick?

I am fairly well traveled. Where I hang my hat is my home. I do not live in the south right now and I miss home. I would love some sweet tea and good ole crawfish. I live in the mountains, and have no complaints but it's been a year and a half since I was home. Starting to really miss the south. My lip is swelling up from allergies and I am have trouble sleeping. I have never felt this way before. Have any of you ever been home sick?

Nope. I miss the food & family at times, but that's about it.

I've never been home sick. And my home, friends, and family are amazing. I just REALLY live in the moment. I don't care where I am, I'm going to make the most of it and enjoy myself.

when I was stationed overseas, yep. the duty station sucked balls and I was only 19 at the time, so that had a lot to do with it.

these days, having been all over, not so much. my family, and the food, yep. all the other things..meh

yes

Moved to Florida, lived in Satellite beach.

I moved back within 2 years, Florida is boring as frick, if you do not live in one of the big cities, trekking 2-3 hours for sporting events blew monkey balls. No seasons, love bugs are ghey, fire ants sucked hairy balls, etc.

And there are a ton of rednecks.

Oh yeah and noseeums are really fricking ghey

All the time. I am on the road 90% or more a year for work.

It's a tough gig, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm usually so busy, I don't have time to miss it. It's especially hard when you gotta leave and get back on the road.

Not really. Other than the obvious of missing family, the only time I miss home is on Saturdays in the fall when games are being played in Tiger Stadium.

17 years old.

Moved to a small town to work as an the afternoon guy on the radio.

Sunday afternoon, driving to my apartment, alone.

Only time I ever got homesick a bit, but it passed.

was towards the end of a weeklong business trip to Italy...my oldest was about 3 years old and he had been running high fevers and my wife was crying over the phone to me. Absolute worst feeling ever.

I don't truly ever get homesick.

I do have a guilty feeling however come over me that I should go home because I am free to do so and we all have an uninsured limited time on Earth and we should make use of it.

Sometimes I neglect that feeling. Sometimes I follow it and go and visit family. I am currently participating in the latter.

right now. Had a house fire last week and have been living in a hotel. Wife and daughter in one room, me and son in the other. I know the whole, "at least no one was hurt" bit, but having your life turned upside down sucks. I'm soo ready to be back in my house.

Dang man, what a PITA.

Sounds like you're past the "grateful" stage and into the "annoyed" phase.

Hug your daughter, start cocktail hour a bit early and hang in there.

Not really. Most of my friends back home are married with kids and don't get to do much these days anyways. I go back to see family once or twice a year.

When people say homesick I think of it as missing family, not missing the comforts of home or the home itself. I can see why you feel it your way.

I have been on many excursions where I was not allowed many comforts of home, that never left me homesick in that sense.
