Hey,

I am thinking about going to Destin during Easter break, April 1-5. Has anyone been during that time? how has the weather been and was it warm enough to stay on the beach all day? what were the crowds like? Saw a condo listed at Pelican Beach Resort, has anyone stayed there?

I'm trying to figure out if I should take a cruise to the bahamas for 7 days out of galveston or go to Destin instead.

TIA for any help.

It might be warm enough for the beach

Water won't be warm but the beach should be pleasant

have you heard anything about how the weather will be? on weather.com they only have a 10 day forecast and it varies. like 70 during the day. IDk if that's warm enough to lay out.

That is a great time to go. The Spring Break crowd shouldn't be too bad.

I have. A friend of my parents owned one there, and we stayed at it a few times. My parents ended up buying their own condo at The Terrace at Pelican Beach. It is the big white one by the road, but the pool area is in direct sunlight all day, where the one at the Pelican is shaded most of the morning. They use the same beach, and there is a little tram that will run you back and forth from the Terrace down to the beach if you don't want to carry your stuff across the parking lots. It isn't that far of a walk, but with kids, coolers, chairs, etc it can be nice for them to get you on a golf cart. So you may want to look into the Terrace if you're going to swim in the pool. It is heated as well, and I can't remember if the one at the Pelican is heated. The gulf may be a little chilly to swim in.

The weather is pretty nice that time of year. We used to go for Spring Break, which was always the last week of March for us. You might have a cool day here or there, but for the most part it was mid 70s. Really only cool if it rains. In college, we didn't have friday classes in the summer, and we spent 3 days there each weekend except for the major holidays. It just wasn't worth fighting the crowds around Memorial Day and July 4th. Especially since we weren't paying for a place.

I'm at Orange Beach right now and it's plenty warm enough. Water's a little chilly, but people are in it. Got a nice tan/burn after just one day.

Phoenix West. Don't know which one. What's the difference? I think it's 1.

Phoenix II was just completed last year, so a little newer. They're right down the beach from each other. Look almost identical.

Gotcha. Yeah that's the one that took them forever to build. We're not staying at that one.

I go every year at that time and love it. Yes, you can stay at the beach all day. The temps obviously vary depending on any unusual fronts but it can become chilly on the beach in the evenings if it is windy, which it often is. The Gulf is very cold, way too cold for me and you will likely prefer a heated pool.

Crowds are not bad at all, except for Church on Easter Sunday which is standing room only and out the door.

Awesome! Thanks. We have decided to go. Hopefully there is no rain and it stays sunny the entire time

Easter break is a time for quiet reflection and appreciation for the sacrifice made by our lord and savior. Not a weekend for you and your sisters to get black out drunk on margaritas, marijuana and "plan b" pills. I suggest you get your priorities straight young lady.
