Giving up 70 to Walker is not moving in the right direction.

Good guy, but it was time to move on. Live Oak's coach is next for the job I hear.

Live oak over performing for the past few years while Denham is under performing then throw on top of that Walker beat their arse as well this year the writing was on the wall.

I'm sure Dru is a good guy and will coach somewhere else again but the flagship LP Highschool can't be losing to the other schools especially since Denham should have way more talent every year.

Some of that old school LOHS football luck rubbed off on the DSHS football team

A 50+ point loss to Walker is more than just a blowout. The kids quit. That's unacceptable. Especially when you look at the entire situation globally.

He didn't use Tyre properly. How do you lose with an athlete like that on your team?

Based on what???? The flood??? I live in Denham and know what's going on out here as far as damage.this team had a horrible year.... Almost every kid on the team had damage and was displaced... That's a hard thing to recover from. I mean these kids whole life was put to the curb. Plus having to relocate what school they were going to.... It's been real tough on these kids and the coaching staff..... There has to be something else going on..
St Amant went 8-1 under the same circumstances. Shut up.

I followed Denham football a great deal in the 80's and 90's. It's a shame they never made it to the state title game in the 80's with some of the talent they had.

feasted on weak teams in regular season - due to judge parker crippling BR schools

only 7 playoff wins in the last 36 years is hardly dome level. I don't recall any of those 80s teams making it past the second round?

coach nettles has had plenty of talent . never done anything with it. as an alum of Denham springs I was ready for him to go . after walker scored 70 points I actually emailed Kelly jones about making a change.]his youngest daughter is still in school there. I hate for him to lose a job but he is still a teacher there until he lands another coaching job.

They've made the playoffs since 2008?? Wow, when I played in the early-mid 2000s Denham Springs football was a joke, literally 1 win, 2 win seasons were not out of the ordinary for them

They should hire Marcus Randle away from Southern Lab

They are 9-1 this season barely losing to Uhigh 28-26

Facebook posters who worked with him are saying the principal doesn't do enough to hire coordinators as fulltime staff. Pay is low and facilities are not up to snuff.

Says Dru never had a shot at succeeding in 5A due to the lack of investment/commitment from the principal

I can certainly see that as the case bc the schools I worked for had similar issues at times. You can't award a PE position to a non-coach. Some coaches are certified in SS but the vast majority are PE. It sounds like the DSHS principal didn't want to let a PE teacher go to make room for a FB coordinator.

You can't succeed as a head FB coach unless you have a great staff around you.

Yeah I've heard that same story for several years. The assistants don't get paid shite and there is next to no booster club involvement to help with things like good programs have
