Based on what???? The flood??? I live in Denham and know what's going on out here as far as damage.this team had a horrible year.... Almost every kid on the team had damage and was displaced... That's a hard thing to recover from. I mean these kids whole life was put to the curb. Plus having to relocate what school they were going to.... It's been real tough on these kids and the coaching staff..... There has to be something else going on......

Based on a sub .500 record over 12 years. Based on the fact that the team does not perform well and are not well coached. I go to every game, and have for the last several years, teams like Zachary, Live Oak, Scotlandville show how little this team knows how to play cohesive football.
I am keenly aware of the damage and upheaval this flood has caused, I am still rebuilding. Yes having to bus my kids all the way to Live Oak every day is very tough on them, but this isn't a knee jerk reaction and the flood is not a scapegoat.

I remember one year at Woodlawn he had a team that was loaded -- in the playoffs they had like 300 yards passing in the first half and were winning 28-7. In the 2nd half inexplicably he switched to the run and Tara came back and won 35-28. He's a DS alum so this has gotta suck for him. Plus his daughter just graduated from there last spring so I guess they figured there are no more family ties.

This is highschool ball, seems a bit much to fire him like that. Just let him resign. They shouldn't lose to walker by 60 points, so a change is warranted.

I am a DSHS alum and played football. I know the school has changed a lot since I was there, but Nettles got a lot of kids to participate and brought back a style of play that won a lot of games. After Coach Wax became principal, the program didn't make the playoffs for about 10 years. High School coaches don't get paid like college or pro coaches, so I dont think they should get fired for 1 losing season like a college or pro coach- especially if they are running a positive, clean program. I dont live in DS anymore, so I dont know if stuff was going on that justifies the firing. I just think high school sports is about more than Ws and Ls.

You may live out here but you damn sure are pretty ignorant about what's really going on. Many wanted him gone before now.

More to it than a couple Ls.

“People were disappointed in the results in games, and I understand that,” he said. “To me, coaching is all about kids and their growth, and I thought we achieved a lot that way. But in this profession, sometimes you’re viewed by wins and losses more than anything else. I felt like we were moving in the right direction, but you accept what happens and you move on.” Nettles said he will remain as a teacher at DSHS for the rest of the first semester but will actively look for the next step of his career - which for Nettles includes coaching.

Meaux. Shut up. I'm saying it nicely. You look stupid. I won't get into it here but again...long overdue. For wayyyyyyyyyyyy more than W's and L's.
