What a fricking dumbass. He should be arrested for publicising domestic terrorism on police officers.

Well, you're right.

When some bad Muslim commits a murder, all Muslims are to blame. The good ones allow it.

When a bad cop commits an atrocity to civil rights, the response is a resounding "Not all cops are bad. Don't judge the crop by a few bad apples."

Make up your minds.

Having said that: this could be a good shoot. BRPD messed up with the body camera thing. And then videos surfaced. It's a PR nightmare.

Is there footage up to the point of cameras falling off? When did they fall off? How much of the confrontation is recorded? Is there still sound?

This isn't about race, and quit trying to make it so.

It is "us vs them". The police need to be open. People are tired of the "Blue line". And also of the "we investigated ourselves, and found there's no problem" approach to these things.

I've requested dashcam footage of a cop choking me at a stop for telling him I would do nothing without a lawyer first. They "lost" the footage.

System still made me plea, without evidence of wrongdoing. Just the police report against my word. My evidence was the dashcam video.

I'm a middle-class white guy.

We just want openness and accountability.

How dumb do you have to be to think that this would ever be something that's acceptable to share on social media?

Here's the deal. This guy HAD a gun. He got shot reaching for it. He lied to the cops about having a gun on his person.

Here he is with his right hand in the officers hand. The cop yelled that he had a gun, which tells me he lied to the cops when asked if he had one. Then the cop grabs his hand and tries to keep it on his chest, away from his pocket where the gun was. The dumbass

Clearly reaches for the gun in his pocket.

These cops were there because someone called saying that Alton was waving a gun. He lied to them about having a gun, confronted the police and resisted when they tried to restrain him, and when the police found out he had a gun he was still trying to take it out of his pocket. Believe it or not, I doubt they went over there looking to lynch a brother. The truth is that Alton did something stupid, didn't want to get in more trouble so he did something even more stupid and it cost him his life. He has nobody to blame but himself. End of story.

I feel bad that firefighters have to be associated with cops.

I have to believe that when the gun became visible with a still struggling suspect who was not subdued or cuffed yet, ANY movement towards that weapon could reasonably be viewed as life threatening. The escalation of force was reasonable from what I've seen and read. Verbally order suspect down and he doesn't comply. Taser suspect and he doesn't comply. Physically take down suspect and he continues to resist. Gun visible with a motion towards the pocket = deadly threat resulting in shots fired. The cop even warns him with his gun drawn on his chest and he still fights and resists with a visible gun. Shitty choice made by this criminal who put cops in life threatening situation. Nobody black, white or whatever is gonna have that end well. These crazy frickers keep saying it was murder in cold blood. I mean damn, if they were two murderous black man hunting killers they could have just skipped all the escalation part and shot him dead on sight.

was just thinking today that police forces everywhere need to be incrementally scaled down until we notice how much we don't really miss them

You moron the cops tackled him and immediately had a gun pointed inches from his face. He reached for his gun because he knew they were going to kill him killing them first was his only chance of survial
