We are heading to St. Maarten at the beginning of March for 8 days. I've been looking into excursions off of the island and it appears that St. Barts, Anguilla and Prickly Pear are the easiest to get to for a day trip.

Are there any must see or do places on these islands? We are huge fans of places like Soggy Dollar on Jost or the William Thornton on Norman Island. Of course, we'll do snorkeling etc but we love the day party places as well. From searching St. Barts looks to be a little stuffy when it comes to the party scene so I though I'd ask here.

TIA for any information.

Pinel Island - My favorite part of the trip. More relaxing than partying.

I went last summer. Didn't do any day excursions off the island. I did rent a car and spent a day exploring the island. Spent most days just relaxing and watching the planes land at the airport.

Yeah. Anguilla is beautiful.

Here's what I'm looking for. Something like what you do on the weekends for a day but more alcohol and a little less food.

I drank it up at that pool. It's right on the bay. Cuisinart is the name of the place. I caught a cab there.

I'd just stay on Mullet Bay by the strip club. Those eastern European stippers would sun bathe topless all day.

And you don't have to get up. There's a beer/chicken shack on the beach.

Yes it does.

My daughter and a friend will be with us on the trip so the nude beaches are not happening.

Mellet Bay Beach looks great. Bars and food on the beach. That's how I like to roll.

We've been to St. Barth's the last two years and plan on going back. IMO its the coolest spot around there because it is so different. You feel like you're in Europe instead of the Carribean.

Here are some places to check out on a day trip:

Le Select - Laid back burger place where Jimmy Buffett supposedly got the inspiration for Cheeseburger in Paradise

Gouveneur Beach - Probably the most beuatiful beach on the island. Secluded and private.

Nikki Beach - Cool place where you can sit on the beach and order drinks. A lot of celebs love going here.

Columbier - Another beautiful, secluded beach. The only way to get here is by hike or by boat.

Shell Beach/DoBrazil - Great spot to watch the sunset. Right behind Gustavia.

Take a boat over to Anguilla. Taxi to Sandy Ground. Elvis' Beach Bar, The Pumphouse, SandBar, Johnno's, Roy's, Dolce Vita, Barrel Stay. Take your pick.

Or, go to Shoal Bay East. Nicer stretch of beach, but I prefer the bars/restaurants at Sandy Ground.

Spent 6 days there last year. Prickly pear is a nice ride out and in on the party catamaran other than that the island has one bar and is dead. But if looking to relax it is nice.

Make sure to eat at restaurants on the french side and try Lee's Roadside Grill by the airport. We also went on a daytrip offshore fishing trip with Lee and it was great. Plus he serves you the fish after you get back into dock.

I would skip staying in St Maarten altogether and head to St barths, best place around. Food, drink, people etc are hands down the best place. Been going for years. The flight/ landing is an experience in it's self.

Poor advice. St maarten is a great place as well. St barths is great in its own right but way different.

Simpson Bay yacht club happy hour is fun. Get there early and get a table on the deck. Great atmosphere and crowd watching the bridge open and watching all the yachts enter and leave the bay.

Pizza galley is nice too right down the road after happy hour. Getting a table on the pier and a pie is a nice dinner.

Mary's boon on Simpson Bay is a cool spot to eat breakfast and check out the sail boats and yachts anchored in the bay with your toes in the sand. Gets packed so get there early and get a table.

I've been a few times and have stayed on both sides and have dined all over the island so ask away if you have other questions.

Definitely try to touch a landing gear of a commercial jet at the beach by the airport. There's a bar there too.

Agree with this. St. Maarten is like Panama City in the Caribbean.
