but I'd like to look the man in the eye that asks me for my daughters hand in marriage.

People are not statistics. My wife was only 16 and I was 21 when we got married. We went through all the channels and was forced to listen to counselors who told us about statistics. That was 42 years ago. I have a ton of friends who were married about the same time and most are still happily married. We all married in our late teens or early twenties. But that was before the age of the millinials. You can't always tell ahead of time how things will work out.
You married a 16 year old?? How is that even legal? Whatever the case may be, it's freaking awesome!!

Dont give yourself the illusion that it is really your choice. He is being respectful and wants your blessing. If he is a bad dude than stick your ground, but anything short of that would be foolish

He is probably a pill head, my condolences.

At least he asked you
Tell him when you marry a women you marry the entire family.

You know that is just a courtesy. Ask your daughter if that is what she "Really" wants. Young people often jump into these things not really sure of themselves.

Nothing you post gives insight into your values and your own level of comprehension about life.
Therefore, i presume you are an ordinary joe.
Tell him how happy you are for him. Say, i will cut off your balls if you disappoint me.
Laying tile is dependent on economic factors like housing starts. Discuss other career options. Ask what the most is that he can make in a good year. Can he support wife and two kids on the optimum?

With careers like that they can buy their single wide brand new instead of used

i agree, you sound like a prick
it's not that complicated, you think he's good for her or you dont.......
she'll also marry him regardless but "getting with him later" was a slap to the face. WOW

he sounds like a horrible person. This man had no reason to talk to you beforehand. This isn't 1874. She can marry who she damn well pleases. He was doing you a courtesy and showing respect, and you want to "talk" to him.
frick you dude.
