these people only really exist on the internet though for the most part, right?
I've read some the red pill nonsense and it just seems like a bunch of bitter guys that are upset that some chick dumped them

I've been dumped before but how much of a brain frick does it take from a woman for a guy to go so far as to give up even fapping? Seems a bit extreme to me.

That shite is traumatic. I haven't had that kind of horrible relationship but I've seen a lot of them through family, friends, colleagues and coworkers.
I think other people's experiences have definitely affected the way I date. Men can get really have their lives ruined, especially if they haven't even figured out what they want out of life yet. Happened to a former best friend of mine who got a frick buddy knocked up. Serious relationships aren't anything to take lightly, IMO.

Well you're lucky to have been insulated from this segment of society. I wish I didn't know about some of the things that can happen to guys because of relationships.
Guy I was in PA school with had a wife that just up and left. Said she didn't want to be married anymore. That's horrible.
