I say go for it. I was in your exact situation about 10 years ago. We have been married now for 9 years and the 10 yr old has never known life without me. We also have had 3 more kids. It can work out ya know.

The first six months are the worst. I think you're stepping in at the perfect time. Try to exit as the kid approaches puberty.

Is she trolling for it though? I didn't glean that from the OP, but I guess you can't dismiss the option. What is the post-birth celibacy period before a mother can date again?
If she is just trying to frick, I would be thinking on your level. Guess I was allowing the option that maybe it wasn't as whorish as you assume it to be.
