Interesting info. Most surprising is that Newman and Metairie Park Country Day only had about 52% of students eligible for TOPS.

Eligible or applied and became eligible? If I understand correctly you have to submit your FASFA with interest for LA State school. My assumption is a lot of those kids are going out of state to private programs.

Can the SAT be used to qualify for TOPS or does it have to be the ACT?

SAT can be used,at least it could be when I graduated HS, there is a conversion formula they used.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a hard time believing that out of the 72 members of Newman's Class of 2015, only 37 qualify for TOPS.

Newman kids go out of state, so this isn't surprising at all.

That number is eligible it also says number of recipients.

It is shocking those numbers are as low as they are.

Remember a lot of schools (most private schools) are on a 10 point scale, and schools like Ben Franklin and BRMHS are on a seven point scale. That effects the scoring pretty significantly.

Guess they should close Newman and CD, then.

You still have to apply for TOPS, though. It's not an automatic award. So a kid who knows they are going to Sewanne isn't applying for TOPS and therefore not eligible.

I think eligible mean you met the GPA and ACT score regardless of whether or not you applied.
59% for Northshore High School.

That would mean these private high schools are releasing their GPA and ACT data by student. Which they don't do.

This data is coming from LFOSA via the FASFA/TOPS application.

Doesn't pretty much everyone have to fill that out? I know you do for tops but I thought you basically had to fill it out no matter what

I never filed a FASFA. Went to school out of state and my parents paid for my education so I didn't apply/qualify for federal/state loans.
