Cyclists are arrogant attention whores. They belong on sidewalks not on city streets and highways. They are a perfect example of people you cannot pander to. You start changing laws for those morons and it never ends. They always want more.

If you mean they won't get out of the way of motor vehicles, yes.

Peddling? What are we selling?

If you're going to bash someone, try learning basic English. It's "pedaling" you dumb frick.

English is hard with homophones that elementary school kids learn about.

Just run over one and see what happens.

McKinney, TX has signs stating "Bikes Have The Right Away" on major streets.

Pisses me off

My iPhone decided it's yoire this morning.

My point still stands. A simple fat finger mistake isn't the same as using the wrong word. I'd have agreed with you if I'd have missed "you're" as "your."

I only have a real problem with them when the don't follow the basic rules of the road (stopping at stoplights/signs being the main one).

I live in a relatively urban area where cars are always parallel parked along the street, so it's hard to see bikes particularly coming from your left to right. They all go flying through the stop sign anyway and get hit fairly regularly.

Another stupid bicycle move is this one: after a bunch of cars pass them on a 2 lane road (already can get dicey in high traffic areas), those cars come to a stoplight, so bicycle passes those cars while they're stopped and either goes to the front of the line or just goes through the light. Then, those same cars that already had to pass him once have to pass him again, putting him in danger again.

Honestly even the guys you see on rural back roads doing 90 mile rides on the weekends, are these people fricking retarded? Do they not value their lives? Do they no realize that all it takes is one drunk baw in an F250 to not be looking out for them and they're fricking dead?? Closed casket dead?? What is these peoples problem?

True but even more so for motorcyclists. Do you feel the same way about them?
Most people don't because motorcycles are kewl.

I used to ride regularly out in the country. I enjoyed it. Every once in a while you would see a car or a truck and almost everyone was cool. They were used to cyclists out there. But that was the right place to ride and the people there are educated about cyclists.

Here in Baton Rouge, you can't ride on the streets here. And it's not because of the individual drivers. It's because the roads and level of traffic are such that it is very dangerous to attempt. I would never ride in this city, and I question the sanity of anyone who would. I wouldn't ride River Road, either. The only place near Baton Rouge even in the discussion for a safe ride is St. Francisville. So you have to pack up your bike, then drive 30 miles by car so you can ride a bike. Ridiculous.

Long story short - some cyclists need to learn how and where to ride. Some drivers need to learn how to drive. Most of both groups are okay. But these days, I trust neither group.

As bad as these Lances are, they did succeed in making those cycling Jehovah's Witnesses look good. Now THOSE frickers know how to stay on a sidewalk. Much respect I give them.

Is lawful right really an acceptable justification for being a selfish a-hole that intends to inconvenience others solely to award themselves smug points?

It is our legal right to frick somebody else's wife, but we respect social norms enough to use a little chloroform so as not to wreck her with guilt. That's what respecting others looks like.

Actually, it is technically illegal to ride bikes on sidewalks in many places.

We bring this up every time this thread comes around. You would think the mouth breathers in here would remember this small little fact.

Good analysis. Good and bad. My wife and I were in Colorado in June. The "Ride the Rockies" event was being held. Over 2500 cycilists participating. They made a normal drive thru the mountains a nightmare. Creeping behind hundreds of bikes for 60 miles was disgusting. Large trucks, vehicles pulling campers, and cycilists swerving across lanes was a tragedy waiting to happen. Add in miles of traffic following them and you get a cluster F. Stopping the group at passing lanes to let traffic thru is apparently a concept foreign to Colorado law enforcement.

So you are complaining about an event that was planned in advance? That basic research could have told you about so you anticipate and plan alternate routes?

That would be like saying "I went to France during Tour de France and all these roads were blocked. My vacation was ruined.Stupid cyclists!"
