Can you legally make a birth certificate from scratch if you have it notarized and officialized and all that?

I only ask because my little brother is a boss with calligraphy and tonight he mentioned making the birth certificate for the kid I have on the way. I'm going to get him to do it either way and just keep it as an awesome show piece if it isn't legal...just curious what the OT lawyers had to say.

Interesting, would assume it is a legal form much like a SS card, but don't know that for sure.

If it is possible I would think this shite would be all over pintrest and etsy.

It would be cool, but think about all of the people who would be questioning the authenticity down the road. If it is legal, and nobody knows that it is, it's a bad idea in my opinion.

You can do whatever you want; it will just be a keepsake certificate. You will still need the real one for the important stuff.

It is....but they are not official Birth Certificates. Those have to be issued by the state.

I would assume that the state form would be the only "official" birth certificate, but nothing is going to stop you from having one made for your family. I wouldn't expect it to be accepted as a legal one though.

I just had to get a replacement birth certificate for my brother...they don't even have the embossed seal (like a notary seal) anymore. They're just printed on special difficult-to-counterfeit paper to make them official. I think it had a watermark in it.

I doubt you could just make one for legal use, but you could always have him make one & frame it or something.

I would say that's gonna be a no. Where would you stop. I want a custom driver's license "it's cool officer, I got it notarized. I just wanted to put some personalized background pics like on my credit card".

My dad did a calligraphy birth announcement that hung on the wall in my nursery. So I see where you are going, but I cant see how anyone can just make up legal forms.
