Looks like gas. I get it from time to time, usually from too much cabbage or red beans.

Earlier rovers were small, almost deposible explorers. Expected to last a couple of months before dust covered the solar cells too much to keep running.

They lasted years.


Curiosity is a full fledged analytical lab that's about the size of an SUV, powered by nuclear fuel cells.
