If you do make it on the ship tomorrow, don't waste your time in Belize... Somalia with a view. Just stay on the boat.

I'm sure they'll let you on. They may roll their eyes when they see it, but they'll let you on. Especially with carnival allowing copies. All any of the lines really want is only what is acceptable to customs/port authority. They have the final say.

And that's a great cruise, NCL 7day out of New Oreleans. We go every year. MIL passed away this year and we had to cancel at the last minute this year though.

Good lord I hope you're right. The True Copy Notary will probably do the trick.

I'll be the goat of this family forever

I am betting that this will do it...cruise lines don't want to deny customers because of something like that...

Depends on the cruise line and where you leave from and return to. If it is closed loop, and leaving from the US or its territories, then a passport isn't required. With Carnival, you can get off the ship at ports without it. I know for kids, you can use a copy of their birth certificate. So it might work for you also. Just call them and see.

Pretty cool idea in your situation. Birth certificates are handled by DHH and have nothing to do with the court as far as I know but no one at the port will probably know that. The cruise company certainly has no interest in denying you.

I would think that would be enough.

I really hope it works out for you

Update: just talked to someone who works at customs in the cruise terminal. Friend of a friend, said I would be fine. They are most concerned with a photo ID.

And that's who NCL is trying to appease. Great news and y'all will have a blast.

I wouldn't use the Internet while on the ship.

Y'all are both leaving tomorrow on NCL?
