I used to start all my days reading the 3 or 4 articles the site puts out each day. They used to be rolling out some pretty hilarious stuff. Lately (at least the past 6 months to a year) it has pretty much just turned into a well designed SJW/hipster/idiot blog.

This particular article has pretty much stomped out any hope I had of the site returning to its former glory:

10 Cranival Foods invented by crazy people

Aside from the fact that none of the offerings listed are even very exotic, this clown had this to say about Bacon wrapped Porkbelly and chocolate coated Bacon:

quote:

It was served on a stick, because that's as simple as they could make it, short of throwing it on the ground and telling us to scoop it up like the filthy animals we are. Man mastered sticks before we mastered not worshiping the sun as a cruel and unfeeling God. Biting into this porcine monstrosity felt like a reversion to those long-gone days.

Each bite tastes like you're devouring a pig farm. There's enough fat and grease to briefly sate Paula Deen.

Your childhood puppy's skin could have been used in a gimp suit, and it would have been a more dignified end to an animal. Each new bite tasted just a little worse than the last, even in the rare moments that a tiny oasis of actual meat was uncovered in the sea of grease. And dear lord, the grease. It gets all over your fingers, it coats your lips like a second skin, it seeps into your very pores, and no matter how much you wipe and scrape, it doesn't come off. It stays with you throughout the long day. It doesn't come off. It stays with you after your pitiful attempt at cleansing yourself in the shower. It doesn't come off. It stays with you at night, in your bed and in your dreams of pigs impaling men on sticks for their hubris.

quote:

Chocolaty, fatty, meaty, salty. It's all of them coming together awfully. Grease and chocolate do not mix. GREASE AND CHOCOLATE DO NOT MIX. It smells like a decade old ??? ??? closet ??? Left with a hollow taste. ??? ??? NOISE! ??? Each bite is regret. ??? Death? It's crumbling away! The chocolate ??? ??? ??? God ??? No ???"

That's where the English notes end and letters(?) that no language has ever used begin to ramble on for page after greasy page. In conclusion: The combination of fat, chocolate, meat, and grease wasn't very good, and also possibly summoned an ancient demon. We're still not entirely sure what transpired. We're still not entirely sure if we ever will be.

All of these would be fighting words in my house.

I mean I think most people on this site would not only try both of these foods, but very much like them.

" my bacon wrapped foods are too greasy, anyone who eats bacon is a Neanderthal ... Am I being funny yet?"

Here's a picture of this metrosexual jackweed.

Dude also dogs on gator meat, deep fried veggies, and fried cheese on a stick if you were still doubting whether it's really that bad.

Yeah, it is pretty terrible now. Half the time I don't venture past the first page of an article. Most of the lists don't even fit the title. It's starting to remind me of the bullshite links at the bottom of Tiger Droppings threads. It's all just click bait now.

Did something happen for such a drop in quality to occur? I used to do some writing for my high school newspaper and would look to their articles for inspiration and it really influenced the tone of my writing. Now I would be ashamed to try and emulate most of what they do there now- no subtlety, asinine points, and manufactured outrage.

I think I saw somewhere that Dan O'Brien is the editor-in-chief now, I always thought his articles were hilarious though.

I guess you can look at their audience and see what's wrong- the comments at the bottom are always just a ridiculous echo chamber of dumbassery from what I assume are well-programmed millennials (I'm a millennial and think it's a fine term, don't want to hear shite about how every generation has it's own types like this).

I was also a daily reader a few years ago. I check in every few months now, hoping it's gotten better. Nope, still sucks.

I stopped going there 3 or 4 years ago. The extremely liberal bias to many of their articles turned me away. I haven't missed it.

Yep, used to be most of their stuff stayed away from politics, now they shoehorn liberal ideology into nearly every article in some way, even if it has absolutely nothing to do with politics.

Seanbaby leaving the site was a big blow. He was by far my favorite writer.
LINK /

But, as mentioned, it also got a lot more SJW-y over the past few years.

Yeah, most of their stuff is kinda stale now. Most of the good writers left and seanbaby writes like 2 columns a year.
Sucks man. I Used to love reading cracked

That one article where the dude watches a poorly subtitled version of The Raid is still one of the funniest things I've read on the Internet

I used to follow them on twitter and when I pulled up one article I'd end up spending an hour on there reading random shite. At some point I feel like everything started becoming recycled and I unfollowed their twitter. Its probably been a year since I've read their site. Slideshow articles didn't help.

You can actually change it a list view, but their Photoplasty has probably dropped in quality the most- it really is just the same recycled factoids or fantastical situation ever single day.

The contributor "Aunty Meme" used to regularly have well over half-the entries in each of these, whoever he/she is, they are a photoshop machine. A few months ago Aunty Meme became a part of the staff and now only contributes in a once-a-week Photoplasty which is only their stuff.

Problem with that is she was the contributor in all of those little photplasties, so now that she isn't doing the day-to-day stuff, that has gone to shite. Now instead of looking at the new entires everyday I only look at the one she puts out on Saturdays (I think tat's when hers is up).

I know this will probably date me - (heck, I was an adult before the internet became "a thing") - but one of my favorite sites used to be jumptheshark.com.

Then TV Guide bought it. And, instead of keeping the way it was (I mean it was popular - one would assume that's why TV Guide bought it, right), they just wrecked it and made it a way to link to articles about various current shows.

Hate to hear that about cracked - one of my favorite things about the internet.

(ETA: Bonethefish.com tries to carry the banner, but it isn't the same.)

Their video content is good, After Hours and Cracked responds (to trailers/commercials) in particular....The podcast was early on the Josh Trank is really fricking up the Fantastic Four movie train.

What happened to the caption of the day thing? Those were mildly amusing but have been missing for years now.

I only view the movie articles now, and even those are riddled with leftist "jokes". The comments are even worse, it's a hivemind now and not worth the clicks.

Auntie Meme is pretty average and they featured lots of Photoplasty's where she was the sole contributor. There was a pretty big backlash. She's one of the reasons I quit following Cracked.

When they did a huge write up and let Zoe Quinn spread filth and lies during "Gamergate" is when I stopped going to Cracked as much. I used to go and read everyday.

It's been getting worse and worse and I've been going less and less. I haven't been in over half a year now.

Their best writers are huge SJWs. David Wong has popped out a couple of masterpieces but he has a lot of stinkers. The real funny authors like Gladstone dont seem to be doing as much with the site.
