Cox or AT&T Uverse in BR

I have had Cox cable in my home for 16 years. Cox provides all internet, cable and telephone service to me. The AT&T guys have come around again and offered to lower my bill by close to $50 per month with more channels and the same or better internet and telephone services. I only have HBO as far as movie channels with Cox but with Uverse I would get HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc. I would also get wireless receivers with AT&T and as far as I know that is not an option with Cox. My question is, has anyone made the switch from Cox to Uverse in BR and did that change come from the AT&T guys knocking on your door? The last time this happened I called Cox and they lowered my bill to close to what AT&T offered and gave me unlimited long distance for free. I am sure they would lower again this time if I called but probably would not match the savings and the wireless receivers are a big plus to me as I would like to set up a TV outside in the Fall to watch football and not having to run wires is a plus. Anyone make the switch from Cox to AT&T and what is your experience?

My U-verse experience was not great. At the end of the day it cost me more than Cox.
I pay like $180 a month for Cox. It sucks. But they own me.

Before I called Cox I had to pay for long distance calls. After calling they gave me unlimited long distance at the same cost that I was paying for local telephone service. In other words, I got the service but my bill did not go up.

You got a land line huh? That's cool. Is it for tight t-shirt ironic purposes?

I have to call long distance to talk to my parents on the phone. You ever try talking to senior citizens on a cell phone? It's quite frustrating!

Did it go up after a period of time or did Uverse make promises that they didn't keep?

This. They told me they'd be cheaper than Cox, but by the time I got similar internet service and TV, it was more. Lots more. And we had a lot of service interruptions. But this was 7 years ago, when they were brand new to BR.

Run away as fast as you can from AT&T. My bill went up just about every month and its impossible to speak to anyone to discuss the problems you're having.

I switched almost a year ago. There were some issues with the actual setup that it took them a while to figure out, but since they did, I haven't had any complaints. You may want to check the fine print on your offer - I got a discounted rate and free HBO as well, but it only was for a year, although you might be able to work a deal with them after the year is up.

Switched from COX to Uverse at my last place and loved it. Better service, better price, more reliable.
Bought a house recently, brought Uverse with me, and so far it has been a disaster. Nothing seems to work right, they have been out several times trying to diagnose and fix the problem. I'd prefer to stick with them if they can get the issues fixed, but they are about out of strikes.

I learned that the hard way.

That sounds exactly like what happened to me. The service kept cutting out randomly. They sent technicians out at least four times to find the problem with no results. Finally, one of the outside techs found a bad port in the junction box. Since then, I've had no problems, but I was definitely ready to cut bait before that.

This is what they are supposed to be fixing today. I hope it does the trick.
And for anyone whose AT&T bill goes up after the first year, call them. They will keep renewing those special offers, sometimes even increasing the services at a lower price.

Switched to AT&T last August and could not be happier.
