"The FBI interrogation came just hours after Fox News published a report on Roberts’ research, in which he said: “We can still take planes out of the sky thanks to the flaws in the in-flight entertainment systems. Quite simply put, we can theorize on how to turn the engines off at 35,000 feet and not have any of those damn flashing lights go off in the cockpit.”

I think he's suggesting taking actual control of the plane.

In theory?

Like through a hack that goes from the in flight entertainment to the avionics?

I think that's what he's claiming.

You would thing those would be completely separate systems with no way to communicate. Essentially the entertainment system should be off line from the avionics.

Yep, that would be basic design criteria it would seem. Doesn't make any sense.

The "mystery" of MH370 is merely due to the size of the ocean.

This. Although I think the Malaysian government knows/knew more than they are letting on.

what's the likelihood that a flight from Malaysia to China even had wi-fi or any sort of in-flight entertainment

barely half the fights in this country have wi-fi or TV's

better chance it was one of your dark demon warriors that took down that plane than a hacker

That's not completely outside the realm of possibility. If it was an individual, the chance that 'dark demon warriors' having a hand in it is close to 100%.

If professionals hijacked the plane, anything is possible.

Yep. Of course the motive is still in question.

You'd be surprised, but foreign airlines (that aren't budget airlines) are miles ahead of the US airlines with things like WiFi and entertainment.
