That's exactly the same as 23 officers shooting 377 rounds from all directions in the middle of a populated neighborhood at a car with one innocent man in it
They were ambushed by Texas Rangers (in Louisiana, no doubt) with BARs and Thompson submachine guns, so I would say that's actually probably worse.

In a populated area with an innocent person riding with them? No

- populated neighborhood
- unarmed suspects
- the innocent man they gunned down who was also in the car that they knew nothing about
- the crossfire that injured other officers
- the wildly unnecessary amount of shots fired
- the fact that they almost hit children
It's ridiculous and I can't believe there's even one person anywhere who can find a way to justify it

cops and their defenders love to make excuses for reckless and unacceptable behavior.

But they want to start whining and tearing up as soon as one of them.... never mind.

Seems to be so in this case. Probably save the taxpayers a few bucks
Not after all the lawsuits from these yahoos being reckless.

I like how left out key parts of the story
That justifies their use of lethal force but that doesn't excuse them for lighting up the vicinity with rounds.
