Constraints on the aferlife

I'm an atheist in the strictest sense of not having a theism - I neither believe in an aferlife or disbelieve in one, as there is no scientific evidence either way.
However, I think science can help us put some constraints on what kinds of afterlifes are possible given current knowledge. In particular, I'm referring to what science has taught us about memory.
Memory is stored in the brain. People who have certain brain diseases lose their memory. Extreme cases of, Alzheimer's for instance, result in the person not remembering anything about their lives.
Given that the brain dies when you're dead - and given that science has shown us the brain is what stores memories - therefore, it stands to reason that IF there is an afterlife, you will enter it cleaned of all memories you have made in your life.
Thoughts?

Does that make you an agnostic then?

Thanks dick. I'm trying to hold on to being agnostic, at least. Way to poke holes.

Is Afertlife a new supplement craze?

There is an afterlife. You either spend eternity with a super natural being, or your energy transfers into the earth. Either way, your energy keeps living in another form.

To the extent you're talking about some sort of naturalistic conception of an afterlife, your conclusion makes sense. However, most conceptions of the afterlife invoke the supernatural. And if that is the framework under which an afterlife in fact operates, I'm not sure there is any inherent reason why it would be constrained by naturalistic scientific predictions.

Your "energy" stays with your body and is transfered to the organisms that eat you.

I do presume that if there is an aferlife it follows the laws of nature, yes.
I don't think that's unreasonable.

It's not necessarily unreasonable, but why do you presume that?

We'll all be worm food then worm shite. It's better to not think about.

Exactly my thoughts.
One thing for Spidey to consider: people who have been brought back to life after being declared clinically dead somehow retain their memories.
Not saying this proves the existence of God or not. Just something to think about after what he posted about the brain losing memory.

Did you crush the title on purpose?

Some postulate that consciousness is a quantum field, and the brain is a physical device for interacting with reality in this dimension. If so, you could lose the ability to access that information through injury or illness, but it would still be there on an extra-dimensional level.
I'm not an atheist, BTW. I don't believe there's an old bearded man in the sky, but there are hints of something out there that is beyond our mind's capability to comprehend.

I've always thought some people's versions of the afterlife were ridiculous. My family, for instance, taught me that everyone gets a mansion and riches in Heaven. As if materialistic bullshite is the final goal...

i think life in general, a conscious existence, is crazy to begin with. anything is possible and is beyond mankind's limited imagination.
