Like many, our beach condo front door slams hard when another door or window is open. Is there something I can install/ have installed to prevent this? I'm not talking like shuts hard, I mean like a heavy front door shutting with probably 50 lbs of force or more. It's dangerous, it would easily break fingers and it scares me it could potentially literally cut a kids fingers off. The scary thing is if someone small or weak opens it and leaves it partially open it can slam hard only 6-12 inches open. I am invisioning a little kid opening the door and not being able to open it fully and then it slamming shut with their other hand now in the door.

I'd be willing to spend a $1000 or more. I need something of commercial type quality as we rent the unit and it could be abused. This is a fairly common issue, but I searched online and nothing great came up?

That happens to any door in any place when another door or window is open, but sweet "I have a beach condo" brag.

You've mastered the art of the subtle brag. I'm quite certain that no one would have been able to provide advice and assistance without the knowledge that this door was located on your beach front condo.

Close the door to the balcony. Problem solved.

Not really, not like this. It is way worse on a tunnel style condo that runs parrallel to the wind blowing straight down the hallway. It seems to be worse in waterfront units and not just on the beach. Beach condos can be bought for $200k, doesn't take a baller.

From reading online those door things only close a door, do they regulate how fast it closes? They made so a door is not left open, but I can't tell if they actually prevent a door from slamming?

They're hydraulic so I assume the rate at which it closes is regulated by the fluid inside

Get a "beach house" and open a few windows on the front door side.

Out of curiosity, I Googled door closer prevent slamming. Got lots of results. $1K should buy you a nice commercial-grade system.

Keep windows and other portals closed until you have all the little ones in bed. Save $.

Those door closers can be adjusted to swing open, latch, and "back check" to however you like. Since the door shuts with more force then it should, I would get a good commercial grade door closer.

Thank you. Everything I've seen and been told is that they are made to pull the door shut to prevent it from staying open. Not to actually control the door from closing faster. So I want to make sure what I'm installing does this. The guy I talked to that installs them seemed to be giving me too much of a sales pitch to trust.

You know how I know you don't live near the ocean? Because the salt air wrecks steal and certain other metals. I asked specifically about beachfront because anyone that has dealt with property there even things on the inside know. I don't want to install something that gets eaten by the salt air in a year, because that literally happens.
