Well thank you captain obvious. Now I know why my saltwater series engine has stainless instead of regular metal. What would we do in south Louisiana without you

OP obviously makes decent money if he has a condo, yet he's not smart enough to figure out this door problem without the OT. Doesn't add up.

Not a "subtlebrag" post because I don't have a beach condo. However, my in-laws do and this:
quote:

That happens to any door in any place when another door or window is open

is BS.

OP couldn't be more accurate. He is describing the door to my in-laws place when the balcony glass door is open to a "T". I've often thought about the fact that it could easily sever fingers. Damn door scares the hell out of me because there are tons of kids around there in the summer, including mine. Mine are a little older now and more aware of it thank goodness.

In fact, the door used to have one of these

but no longer does. For the life of me, I don't know why.

Edit: You may need to make small adjustments to latch speed setting in winter months. Ours works perfect in summer and prevents the slamming you're worried about. When it colder out, we need to make a small adjustment in the setting so it has enough force to "latch" when the fluids are colder.

This...door closers often have Summer and Winter settings to adjust for the temperature change.
