this is what I'm leaning towards.

CEP is graduated compression. They move blood back up to the heart by making your valves in your veins work more efficient. Also reduce vibrations in your ankles that reduce micro tears to prevent shin splints. Don't buy sleeves, waste on money.
interesting.

I have CEP ... I like to wear them on long runs of 7 or more miles ... and I like to wear them with my running capris (yes, female here) for warmth (can't find full length pants that I like).
I HATE HATE HATE to wear them in the summer .. it's so freaking hot.
I have found that they help on longer distances. Just make sure that you buy the right size for your calf. Get measured!

I worked for a medical vascular company for 3 years. I sold medi which is a high end compression product used by docs at the Mayo clinic, MD Anderson, etc. They decided to come out and make a prototype compression product for a company named Zoot. Well after the contract was up, they came out with CEP. It's the same medical grade compression as the medical side. #1 compression product used by the top pros in Kona. 2XU, tommy whatever, etc suck, don't hold a candle to CEP.
Just wanted to clarify when i said they were a scam, I meant for a perfectly healthy athlete. They obviously work very well for people with debilitating circulation.

There is a guy at my work that wears them with work pants, cowboy boots, and a vest. Sometimes he wears them with a duster.
Just realized it says leg sleeves. Well I wanted to share my story. Carry on and my B.

I would feel like a massive tool wearing these. They're fricking tights.

To the guy that is leaning to 2XU. Go to a shop that sells different brands. See if they have samples to try on. If you put a CEP and .2XU on, you'll never where a 2XU again. Just trying to help you. Even Zoot is better than 2XU. The reason is 2XU is ungraduated, meaning pressure is tight in different spots. That's poor quality in the compression industry. CEP is 22mmHg at the ankle. As it moves up to the top of your calf, it reduces to about 18mmHg. No other brand does that. Look up Dave Scott. See what brand he wears. Andy Potts who I personally know, etc. Just do some research.

There is no way this stuff does anything real, right? It's just because athletes use them and they look cool. At least that's what I always thought.

Certain ones can help circulation, prevent shin splints, and keep you very warm during winter runs without baggy clothes slowing you down. They aren't going to make an average runner a Kenyan.
People with major circulation issues from diabetes and other health complications have seen incredible improvement from them. They are much more beneficial in this capacity.
Some people in basketball use them to cover tattoos and other sports as a way to protect skin from abrasions such as brush/grass burns.
ETA:
Who gives a shite what people wear? If it gives you confidence and/or convinces you its helping, then its helping. The mind is a powerful ally. No, I don't own them nor do I run unless someone is chasing me.

CEP and Skins for me. I'll wear them to sleep after a long run or when I used to work standing a ton at the bar (CEP socks) or use them during longer runs to stave off shin splints (Skins sleeves). I've noticed a difference for both applications.
To aid in recovery, I just jump into the unheated backyard winter pool too.

I agree with every single statement in this post. I generally wear these for recovery after long, hard runs and I think they help. I've never really worn them during a workout except when I was battling shin splints and I think they helped then too. CEP for me as well.
jumping in a cold pool after a long run is the shite.

Everyone listen to this guy.
I wear Jobst (one of the original companies putting out scientifically legit compression garments), compression dress socks (khaki, black, etc).
Got trained by Jobst many yrs ago to be a custom fitter for their garments.
Gradient compression is the best way to go. You do not want a tourniquet effect at any point going up your leg.
