Pretty much. Also has anyone mentioned Waco is ghetto as frick? Like not student housing with a lot of kids partying ghetto like your average college town, but actual gang activity.

I live near SMU which obviously is not in an area "ghetto as frick" (using your words, not mine).

Waco is not University Park, but it is not as you describe it.

You also can drive up to West and get some badass kolaches.

Every person I knew who did business at Baylor had jobs before they even graduated.

I was a journalism major at Baylor and also had a job before I graduated.

The people you're thinking of probably picked art history as a major.

OK Scrub here's my opinion as a parent of a second year Baylor student.

While it is expensive, depending on ACT score the student can get almost all tuition covered strictly based on that score. My daughter gets almost 2/3 covered and has a few other grants/scholarships so it's affordable for us.
Depending on major, it may or may not be a good choice. If she wants to major in sciences, business, or law it's outstanding. My daughter is in Biochemistry Pre-med path. She lives in the Health Sciences only dorm which has many advantages such as monthly guest speakers, seminars, and visits to medical schools, hospitals, and research facilities. I would think for things like education or liberal arts there may be less expensive places that would be just as good.
Campus is very pretty and well maintained. Campus security is very visible and provides late hour escorts back to dorms from the libraries.
Freshman will have to take Chapel and 2 semesters of religion but they don't force the Baptist religion down your throat. My daughter actually enjoyed chapel. They do stress community service and volunteer work; lots of organizations and opportunities for students.
Athletics- Football gamedays are good, the new stadium and tailgating/sailgating areas are nice.

Waco- I actually like the town, it still has a small town feel to it and the downtown area has been upgraded tremendously.

Our experience with Baylor has been very positive. My kid is in a very tough curriculum but there are so many things in place to assist students it makes it easier. My wife and I both highly recommend Baylor.

Growing up in Texas and going to college there isn't good. GTFO of there while you still have a chance. At least put some roots down in the SOUTH somewhere. Somewhere in the SEC...not that freak school in Texas either.

Was that good enough for pics?

I need to add:

she would be coming in as an out-of-state student. And she wants to be pre-med.

True story. I work with Baylor grads, but I also work with a ton of Texas State, Houston, SFA, Sam Houston, etc. grads.

Or you could go to UT or A&M, and for much less money, get the same or better educational quality and reputation, and never even have to think about mandatory chapel or having to take religion classes.

Hey buddy, guess you missed the part where myself and Double D both explained that depending on your ACT score almost all your tuition can be covered.

Maybe next time your college of choice will require reading to be accepted.

I mean yeah at UT I could do that.

But why would I want to join a cult that has male cheerleaders who buttfrick each other between classes?

Thanks double d. IYO, how overwhelming is the Baptist thing for a non-southern, other-religion female student?

When I think Baylor, I think of super religious bible toting Baptist. The Baylor grads I work with are all very religious. So that kinda skews my opinion.

It's not that overwhelming.

If you want it to be then you can attend all the out of class church stuff, but I'm not religious at all and could care less about religion as a whole and had a great four-year experience at Baylor.

The only private school in Texas that is significantly better than UT or A&M is Rice. Rice is legitimately superior. SMU, TCU, Baylor: you're wasting your money.

so you thought about it ?

No.

Only schools I applied to out of high school were Clemson, LSU, the U, Baylor and Texas State.

Was going to go to LSU, but out of state ended up being twice what Baylor was going to cost after my scholarship.

Rice is vastly superior, no denying that.

But like it's already been said, if you can score well on your ACT then Baylor will cover a large amount of your tuition. That's one of the big reasons I went there.
