Wasn't there a study that also found Louisiana residents #1 in happiness a couple of years ago?

Mississippi #7?

Jackson and BR are a wash and it doesn't have NOLA, which used to be a huge plus for LA, but now...

Shocking how many people here rip MS, but LA people move there for retirement or pay outrageous amounts for hunting leases all the time. The two states are not that much different when you take away the Delta and NOLA, which are becoming more and more similar every day. LA does have a huge benefit of oil & gas money and lots of industry on the river, which MS does not have, but the states still compare relatively equally (last and second to last) in most of these polls.

Why is this at the top of the article? This is basically just a hate on the racist south article from fake news CNBC.

Attractions is heavily overrated for people actually from Louisiana imo.

They are looking at it through the eyes of someone on vacation.

You mean concerned women for America of Texas is not an Alabama organization? Shocking that CNBC would not be accurate in their portrayal of a southern state.

I guess it all depends on your socioeconomic status, what part of the state you live in, and what your hobbies are. There are few places I'd rather live than Louisiana. For someone who grew up with a love of fishing and the outdoors, Louisiana is , as they say, a sportsman's paradise. No other place like it in the U.S. My living preferences will always be either rural or the suburbs. I live in an area that's very affordable and my kids had access to good education at a public high school that cranks out high caliber students and more than its share of National Merit Finalists. And I could launch my boat literally 2 minutes away from my front door. I also love to eat, and our state offers some of the greatest cuisine the world has to offer. NOLA is close by and offers lots of entertainment, and I've never personally been affected by the crime (granted, I don't hang out in the projects or stroll the back streets of the Quarter at 3 a.m.). I'm perfectly happy in our lowly state.

I don't think it's talking about you specifically. It's an overall ranking of the state, as it has to be.

Again, these lists are shite based on values people from the Northeast or SoCal have. I really don't think the average person living in La gives a rats arse, and that's how it should be.

Anything North of Alexandra is a wasteland. If that area did not exist La would be top 5 best state Lock.

Pretty much my exact thinking. I actually like it here as I am a big gun guy, enjoy some outdoors, and generally smaller living even in BR.

But as a whole Louisiana does not have a huge variety of attractions and recreational activities if you discount NOLA. As a lifelong resident, I discount NOLA big time, its just a non-factor for me now that I'm older.

i went on a tangent yesterday but LA is basically doomed there is no solution

I'm 28 and have lived in Nola all my life except for school at lsu. Grew up uptown and love the unique history of the city and state and many of its residents.

Houston is looking more and more appealing despite telling myself in the past that it's one of the last places I'd want to live. The whole state is way more economically friendly. Much bigger job market especially for my line of work chemical engineering

Why do I continue to live and contribute in a state and city that don't give much back to its producers when compared to other states. I guess the reason is family and roots

But when you say it depends, that confirms my assertion of the lack of variety.

There's plenty of variety which is why you have a "depends"

It's not Southern Cal or the N.E. But, there are very few places that measure up to those two areas.

It's funny when everybody gets butt hurt about rankings like this. We all love our home state but it really is a pretty shitty place to live in comparison to most other states and it all stats with out inept state government.
