I get them. There's no way to express how much that shite hurts. Thank God its only an hour or two at a time.

Didn't watch the video, but I assume she's bouncing her head off of something... That actually feels good when a true nut cutting cluster kicks in....

I get in a shower as hot as I can take it... Then thump my head where the pain is.

Bro! I did ten years of this with two 2 month clusters a year.

Verapamil 240 MG changed my life. I take it every night. I am in my cluster now, but have only had two headaches this time around.

Didn't read through every post so I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned imitrex but when I was diagnosed with cluster headaches in 2005, a PA asked me if I would consider trying the auto injection of imitrex when I got a headache. Been my go to ever since. In 2008 I was admitted for headaches and they gave me an iv of some crap and told me I'll be good a new. I walked out the hospital, my wife took me to the Cvs down the block and before she came out, the headache was back. Got my script filled for imitrex and after that I was ok. Knocks out a headache within 5 min for me.

Father had them......it was a true nightmare in person. Funk in down right scary. Nights of him banging his head into a wall, running into the woods at night screaming at the deer camp.

it was truly terrifying.

Used to say it was like a red hot poker being jabbed in his eyes while his teeth melted.

I have them. On two meds for them. It really, really, really sucks. Mine sometimes last for hours.

No clue what's going on with the hitting of her head...

I used to experience borderline cluster headaches. Had to get in a room with the lights off....and walk around, as strange as it sounds. Hurt in the back of my head, pain was so intense I couldn't sit or lay still. Went to the doc and he told me the best route is 10 mg of melatonin. Has worked like a dream for me... I can alwats feel the "auroa" before they hit.

Ive told my wife several times when they are intense , if someone gave me a pill and told me it was a 50/50...and it would either ease my headache or kill me...I'd take it without hesitation.

Verapamil seems to be the go to preventative right now. Got on them last fall. Hopefully it helps this upcoming fall. If not I've been taking this for no reason. Worst bout I ever had was in college. Two years with 3-4 attacks a day. Nothing helped.

I think most of it ended up being rebound headaches from taking so much shite. And frick the anxiety of leaving the house and realizing you didn't bring any maxalt, imitrex, fioricet or whatever the doc has you on

I know the anxiety you speak of well. It is a terrible thing we suffer with. My face is wrinkled early from wincing in pain.

I would not wish these on anyone. I was diagnosed with them in 1987. When I would get them I was totally incapacitated. I had to lay in a cold dark room with a pillow over my head. No one could enter the room and if they did they could not come within 5 feet of me. I felt like I would pass out or puke.

I was prescribed a drug called Cafergot. I was to take one as soon as I felt a headache coming on and take one each half hour until it was gone (I think up to 6). Then, the next time I felt one coming on I was to take the number I took before all at once.

One day they went away. I asked my doctor what happened and he told me that he didn't know, but that they could come back as suddenly as they left. That was 26 years ago.

This thread gave me a chill just thinking about one of those headaches.

Those of you saying you have cluster headaches. Do they hurt behind the eye near the temple and always occur on the same side of the head? Any of you experience headaches only after you've fallen asleep for a few minutes to an hour? Even if it's a nap?

Yup. Mine is always behind my right eye. Jaw and neck get real tense. Eyes start watering. They wake me up all the time when I get them. You can be dead asleep and that shite wakes you up. It is not the only time I get them though.

Mine typically start on the right side of my head, but the pain moves when I apply pressure. Usually I just sit and cry for awhile it hurts so bad.

Give me a migraine any day over a cluster.

ETA: mine come on out of nowhere. I usually have small headaches for a few days before hand, but I get headaches quite a bit so I'm not really aware of the cluster until it hits. Then once the main part is gone, I'll have residual headaches for several days after...the whole episode for me can last up to a couple of weeks.

NoHo : daughter:

I do not know how you, and others, function with these. When I had them I was worthless.

One of the lawyers in my office (and my best friend) suffered horrible headaches for years. He was on all sorts of drugs and had a pen injector. He just stopped a few years ago. I thought he'd have to go to Betty Ford to get off all the drugs he was on.

yup. I'm not even phased by a typical headache. Other great side effect of these frickers is that you build up a tolerance to pain meds so typical doses won't work well.

I don't function well...when they are really bad I don't function at all. I just sit and cry. That's what I did Saturday. I just cried for about a half hour. My sister was trying to massage my scalp to hit the pressure points, anything for relief.
