You wouldn't think that if you had seen me on Saturday. It was like someone stole my favorite toy. I just sat and cried.

When I had them no one could come near me and I had to stay in a cold dark room with a pillow over my head. You actually do things. Hell, my buddy used to play golf with them. I could not move or interact with anyone. I am impressed by how you can handle it. I wish you the same luck I had and that they just go away.

thanks. I'll check it out.

Here's a little example...I was visiting my sister one weekend and we had gone out somewhere for dinner. When I was driving home, the pain just hit me out of nowhere. I swerved from the left lane of the road, across two lanes of traffic and onto the shoulder, threw the car in park and told my sister she had to drive the rest of the way back to her house...3 whole blocks. It scared the crap out of her. But I could not even hold up for the rest of that drive.

Amen.

I hope you don't have one when you come East and we're set to tee off and then eat a big steak at The Palm.

I'll premedicate with something.
No way I'm passing up a steak at The Palm.

Vibes noho.... have you ever loked into nortriptyline ? Or something similar... doc told me cluster headaches are best treated as tension headaches.... when I started taking the nortriptyline... cut them in half... then in the event I feel one coming i take 10 mg of melatonin...completely changed my life...when I was having them they were liliterally life altering. So again vibes your way... whatever you do dont settle for treating the symptoms.. we can try and describe them...but there's no way you can put into context what its like. I keep trying different until I found something that worked for me. You just gotta find the right combo of pills :lol

I have never heard of this, but usually have melatonin on hand anyway. Good to know. Thanks.

Yeah...right now that combo is a handful of whatever pain killer I have on hand. Probably not the best treatment plan.

my pain meds are usually tylenol, advil, that kind of thing. But I do have Rx Tramadol for when truly needed. I don't take it recreationally.

God bless you noho.

I take verapamil 240 milligrams every night before bed. You need to get to a neuro and try to get on a preventative.

Have you heard about getting headaches from taking too much recue meds? I wore out bc powder, aspirin, and Maxalt 10's.

The verapamil has changed my life! I hope you give it a shot. As a member of one of the shittiest possible clubs, I understand what's happening to you.

Also, when one sets in, have you tried blasting your head with a hot shower? That does wonders for me. At one point I took lunch at 10 am everyday, when the twitching started, to go home and take a shower. I thank God I was close enough to my house where it was possible. I found that within twenty to thirty minutes of the water hitting my melon the head ache was gone.

And I hate when they happen in public. Trying to explain what has my face contorted, my right eye near swollen shut, while my nose runs like a faucet , and I mutter and moan like a wounded hound with Tourette's syndrome is miserable. Saying its a headache doesn't in any way adequately describe the misery. And there's always someone that pipes in with stories about how they get migraines too. I don't want people I don't trust see me if at all possible.

Do they hurt behind the eye near the temple and always occur on the same side of the head?

Normally the right side of the head, but they sometimes move around.

I've had them hit twice while driving. First time was before I had been diagnosed. Second time was on the way back from a late meeting. Ended up sheltering in a church. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes after I arrived the church had some sort of post-retreat party. Party lasted three hours, complete with loud music and yelling. The most pain I've ever felt.

I at least get a bit of warning before mine: the world turns purple.

I can't believe she doesn't get a concussion.

When I have migraines, I only get relief from
throwing up. Violently.

I take Topamax daily, but it's not that great.

I use pain killers for sleep, only after I empty my stomach.
The headaches are incredibly painful.
