BET is a private company, they should be able to market to whomever they choose and invite whomever they want to their awards and parties.

The Academy (as far as I know) is also a private organization. So they should have no obligation to be inclusive or diverse if they don't want to. If they wanted to make a rule that only whites could be nominated for the big awards, they should be able to. Or they could create an award for best minority in a starring role. More power to them.

Being black is not a requirement for winning an award from BET. So no. It does not.

I have no idea. Wouldn't surprise me though.

The fact is that many non black people have won various BET awards. Dash claims that you have to be black to win a BET award. Dash is wrong.

Let's see last Sam Smith won a BET award. 2014 and 2015 not one person of color even nominated by the academy.

I think some of you are missing the point and making completely unrelated comparisons. But LSH, I know you are a huge black person supporter. Honest question. If the Caucasian community started White Entertainment Television, and had WET awards where the vast majority of awards went to white people that espoused white values. However, blacks could win these awards as well, and occasionally they would throw one to a black person like Stacey Dash for supporting these values, would you support the white culture as strongly as the black culture?

Why or why not?

Care to actually discuss the topic? Or is that all you got?

She was wrong on this one. That's not an opinion. That's fact, baw.

But what's the problem with that? It's one privately owned and operated channel. Who cares that they cater to a non-diverse audience?

Do people have a problem with Spike? Lifetime?

Are you implying the Oscars isn't private? Is it government run?

If you want equal treatment, then you should stop demanding special treatment, pretty easy
