I would say about as much as your average conservative and liberal that blindly take a hard stance on the issue.

You will not find unbiased data. Period.

Truth is we, as humans, are in fact disrupting the natural tendencies of the earth. To what degree? Very minute.

In other words, we are helping the situation, but even if we stop everything, we're still fricked.

What is the average global temperature supposed to be?

the thing that gets me everytime about this is this question right here. What the hell does "average global temperature" even mean?
how many points around the globe are you taking temperatures at?
at what elevation are you taking these temperatures?
Are the points you're taking these readings from out in the open air and free from shade all day from objects like buildings and trees?
How long are you gathering data for, and how often are you capturing the data over that time period?
If you're taking ocean temps, at what depth are you going?
There are so many variable that go into this "average global temperature" it's difficult to really believe anyone that publishes data, and even more difficult to compare publications b/c i'm sure not everyone is comparing apples to apples.

What's to argue? The world is in peril and the only solution is communism. Duh.

If we are really worried about global warming, we just need to kill all the cows. Pretty sure it's their fault.

How long have we been recording temperatures? And then how long has earth been around? We've only been recording temperatures for a fraction of that time. I'm not saying that we don't have an affect on the climate, but it's nowhere near what that crazy person Al Gore would have you believe.

...except for manbearpig. He was super serial about that and it was super real.

A good start would be to convince both sides to not add any additional hot air to the subject.

Haven't seen the rebuttals to this, but it's pretty good...albeit probably out of date.

It's typically done with data loggers that continuously take readings. Elevation is dependent upon location. However, some studies only look at mean sea surface temperatures as this takes elevation and shade out of the question. These data can also be grabbed with satellites.

You look at how climate is changing across the whole globe because sometimes weather patterns in one area can create a false positive due to a localized climate event. For example, The Little Ice Age is often cited by "climate change deniers" as proof that the earth was just very recently cooling. However, this event was found to only impact Europe.

Are you going to give the Earth some Tylenol to reduce its temperature?
