A lot of my friends don't want this to happen. Probably becuase they are emotional, clinging little pussies.

Where are you getting your golf course statistics? I am an avid golfer and would love this to happen, but golf courses have been historically detrimental investments

I worked at Bayou Oaks when Freeport McMoran donated a few million into renovating the West course back around '94. The 4 courses that were there were all making huge profit. Those courses and driving range supported the rest of the entire City Park which were zero income.

I don't trust this CEO Becker pr*ck since the two massive rows of ancient oak trees leading up to the Museum of Art somehow couldn't withstand Katrina's floodwaters after hundreds of years of surviving hurricanes. You're telling me every effing one of those oak trees were killed? I don't believe it. I know someone who dates a New Orleans cop who says those oak trees wound up on a Disney property somewhere.

Of course not...and I didnt. She was called a bitch for ruining Tiger's career and I offered a different, more realistic version.

Nobody said the words, but it was implied by their logic.

How old are you?

No it wasn't.

What does that have to do with anything? How about you tell me how old you think I am, and let's see how good your preconceived notions and implications based on them are.

LOL, First, I think it's almost impossible to move a mature live oak, and if it were, they moved all those oaks without ANYONE seeing them? LOL

take this shite elsewhere. Neither Ellen nor Tiger have anything to do with City Park's golf course. If you want to talk about Tiger/Ellen please start a new thread.

I don't care either way, but what's the argument FOR a golf course? Since I don't play golf, they seem like a waste of space to me, but I'm not going to go cry if unused land gets turned into one either. It's not like they're tearing down Storyland or the museum to build it.

I don't oppose it, I support it, I do think that City Park needs to have more development. Become more like Golden Gate park or Central Park.

I think it is great for the city. This is a city full of tourists for events and conferences most weeks throughout the year. A top notch golf course is a needed addition for both citizens and people coming in from out of town. FWIW I don't play golf.

Turning a homeless gathering spot into a potential golf destination, not only for citizens but perhaps for professional tours...USGA, PGA, Nike, etc.

Also, it was a golf course before...

you wanna see some freaks....go ride through Scout Island in City Park......I swear the gutter punks are holding cult sacrifices over there. It's one of the scariest places in the city.

Pass the lacrosse fields

Just a couple off the top of my head...
1. Bring in a substantial amount of revenue to City Park (estimate over $1,000,000 per year)
2. Redeveloping a course that has been there since around 1900. Always good to see things rebuilt after Katrina.
3. Very few courses in Nola
4. Potentially bring a PGA tournament to City Park, which would be huge
5. Turn the now blighted, run down area into something nice.
6. Would create new jobs
7. Tourism is kinda a big deal in Nola and this would most certainly be a good thing for tourism.
8. City Park isn't making money by having hippies use up the space trying to "restore themselves".
9. Would be great for property values around City Park

Okay now your turn to list some negatives.
