How's that working out with the for-profit prison systems? I hear nothing but complaints, many justified, that the system is slanted to take advantage of the less fortunate in order to generate a profit. And you want to advocate for slanting that even further? Good plan.

Chief's press release lays out why happened

2 plain clothes officers in unmarked unit were parked getting ready to go serve a warrant

Guys pulls up next to them and starts rolling a joint. Officers didn't care. The warrant was their main priority

Then the guy pulls out his gun and they now see a guy smoking out with a gun out next to them

He then became their priority

Smoking pot is a crime so that's one

But more than likely, South Carolina has a law similar to LA that makes it a felony for you have guns and drugs in your possession at the same time

So take this riot, this death, this civil suit, this racial unrest, this nationwide distraction, and add all of that to the already high cost of MJ prohibition.

Facts: Guy on PCP, tells people his car is going to explode after parking it in the middle of the street. Ignores multiple orders to get on the ground, then walks back to his vehicle and proceeds to reach into the vehicle through the window.
Are we sure those are all actual facts?

I have to ask myself in these situations though, was there a chance they could've just used a taser from behind? They had him surrounded, he was just standing there. I agree he didn't comply, but isn't that the point of them having tasers? For a less deadly solution?
I do agree in some other cases, but not in a case where the dude(allegedly) has the actual gun in his hand.

look at 00:25 you will see no gun on the ground. However, I thought it was not the best idea to release the video. It has created doubt in my mind as to the trustworthiness of this police force, and that is unsettling.

Hard to see the actual gun, but his pants leg is absolutely up above the ankle holster. Furthermore, the Chief said that the police were first alarmed because they saw a gun on him while he was in the car. Compound that with the fact that he has an ankle holster, and why would the gun be out of the holster to smoke a J?

Again, the pictures of the gun on the ground show the gun is cocked and the ankle holster open. I don't know why people continue to believe the cops had to do something wrong here. Sometimes people are just asking to die.

Of which video? I am just looking for the facts, I just want this to be justifiable. I am pro LEO.

Pretty sure the police said it was in his left hand.

No you don't. You are saying you can't see a gun in a terrible video that is shaking and has very limited field of vision, and saying that video is affirmative action the cops acted poorly here.

Real life is not like TV and the movies, life is not black and white all the time. There was absolutely no reason for Mr. Scott to get out of the vehicle. He should of put his hands up, and obeyed the officers. Especially when they told him to drop the gun over and over and over.

It is also entirely possible and very likely that he is laying on the actual gun.

Stop it with your common sense.

Choosing to disobey lawful orders while holding a gun is suicide by cop.

They should not be expected to face the barrel of a gun before acting decisively.

I keep reading people saying the guy was backing up. I disagree, the guy was trying to slowly walk around the truck where the cop had obvious cover, with a loaded freaking weapon in his hand, in order to have a better shot.
