“If any hotels were built in Central, the money we would collect would be given back to Central for their own economic development,” Arrigo says. “They would be able to use that money to promote their activities and tourism.”

Shelton declined to name the developers or possible hotels eyeing the area, but says they would likely be two to three stories with meeting space and possibly a restaurant.

What exactly are the activities and tourism opportunities that would bring enough people to Central to necessitate a hotel?

Yeah I am trying to figure that out myself. Central has good schools and some nice places to live but besides that, there isn't shite to do or look at but trees and grass. I mean if you're into traveling to a city to look at those then

How aspirational.

Who goes to Central and decides it makes better sense to just spend the night there and not BR?

Valid question.

It's a semi-rural suburb of Baton Rouge.

For real though, there are a few hotels (or motels) in Baker and in Zachary.

Some people when they travel to visit family, stay in hotels out of either preference or necessity because there isn't enough room.

I can't think of another really good reason.

Well no shite. Nothing ever gets done unless someone wants to profit off of it.

There's nothing wrong with that either.

It wrong when the vast majority of the citizens do not want a Hotel in their city. Noone elected Shelton on the platform of "We gonna build a fricking hotel in the middle of your goddammed bedroom community so I can get rich and all my developer biddies who contributed to my campaign can get paid SON"

We fricking voted for him so he would use the tax revenue to provide services for the city.
The only reason we became a city in the first place was the have a school district. That is really it. If you gave Central the chance to be a ISD without incorporating we would have done it without a second thought tbh,.

Politicians gonna politician though
