I heard one story where someone parked in his parking space at the Shaw Building and he fired them on the spot. Not surprising in the least.

I'm sure there are some typical rumor mill stories out there but a guy I worked with told me he would walk through the building a peek into people's cubes. If they weren't doing work, they were fired on the spot. Not sure if it's 100% true but that's what I've heard.

I can tell you the investors who funded EPIC aren't too pleased right now. They haven' t made money in Texas yet and the shop in Livingston isn't putting many spools out. They are trying everything they can to get work. Some clients don't like Jim from the way he handled things in the past with Shaw.

I don't see how anybody would want to do business with such an a-hole. It's so obvious he's going to sell Epic and brown and root the first opportunity he gets and everyone will leave agin. Why would anybody want to send work to a business that will have most of it's senior management gone in a few years?

These businesses are funded by private capital. As soon as the investors want to sell Jim will. Senior management with Epic and Brown and Root will defect and those companies will be rudderless like CB&I is now. Why send work to a shop that has an uncertain future?

The last straw for our high profile client (a $20M+/year account) was when they asked Jenkins point blank if there would be an environmental division once CB&I took over. He said something to the effect of "I can't guarantee anything". There was an RFP put out the very next week. He fricked over a couple hundred people in one sentence.

The old days of Shaw bringing clients to the "gold club" and doing Coke with them and taking them to the "Marsh Club" to go hunting/fishing must not be working , like it used to.

So, being included on a $1B possible IDIQ, no work of which has been included, means that Shaw should report that as backlog? That's fricking laughable.

$1B in unfunded backlog and CB&I still valued Shaw that high?

I hear Jenkins has fricked over like 3/4 of this city, so that doesn't surprise me one bit. The guy apparently is only concered about making himself money and doesn't care about anyone else. His reputation apparently speaks for itself. Sad way to do business and treat people.

There is some speculation that Gov. Honor Code is in the process of breaking Brown and Root off the new FEMA haul and install, despite the new company has ZERO experience in doing this type of work. It's a new company with no prior experience. So, it will be total cronyism if the work is awarded to the former Louisiana democrat party chair Jim. I thought Gov. Honor Code was above that. We'll see...

There is an RFP through the governors office right now to run a program similar to the road home program which has components of hauling and installing temporary housing apparently. It's worth about $1B. Brown and root is trying to get the work, despite the entity not ever having down the work before. Shaw had experience, which was sold to CB&I. Brown and Root has never down FEMA IA TAC/Road Home work. They may have hired some people that have done the work, but the entity itself has not ever performed such work. If they are awarded the contract it will be cronyism at its finest.

They got people in their office that can handle that work, it's not exactly rocket science. I'm sure they'll manage a competent company doing the work.

A lot companies can do the work. It would be rather unprecedented for a company that has been in business for 1 year to get a $1B recovery contract.

The man power required to do that work is pretty substantial. Proving you did the work and tracking the statuses and progress of that work requires a substantial amount of man power as well.
