Report: Carnival Cruise Line to ban bringing bottled drinks aboard to cut down on passengers sneaking alcohol

quote:

The days of creatively toting alcohol onto a Carnival cruise ship are numbered.

Starting this summer, Carnival is banning passengers from bringing bottled beverages aboard its ships, according to a USA Today report.

The ban will begin July 9, the report said. Carnival will still allow passengers to bring a bottle of wine or champagne.

Carnival's ban means passengers can no longer bring bottled water, soda or any non-alcoholic bottled drinks with them. If those drinks are in cans or cartons, though, it's OK to bring them aboard.

The water bottle method when it first started was very effective, but has since been figured out. I agree with the article that for the most part it was just a hassle and delay at embarkation.

I have never cruised, is alcohol that expensive on a ship? So expensive you have to sneak it in?

I've used this in the past and it will still work.

How about they stop being assholes and charging $8 for a beer and maybe people will be willing to buy the booze on the ship.

I know people who's alcohol tab getting off the ship was more than the cost of the cruise itself. You are locked on this ship for the majority of the 8 days you are gone. If you want to have a blast, you drink.

It isn't terrible expensive...cheaper than a ball game for the most part.

But alot of people see it as way to save money.

I will try any method necessary to bring my own alcohol aboard a ship as opposed to paying those retarded inflated prices. They can go frick themselves.

Carnival sells the drink packages for I think like $55/day. If you want to get and stay drunk, you can do it for around $400 for a week. That's not terribly expensive IMO.

You aren't forced to go on their ship. Live by their rules and prices. It is cheap enough to get on the ship. They make their money by selling alcohol. It isn't that hard to figure out.

Some people at work went on a Carnival Cruise last year and spent a week cleaning out shampoo bottles and sunscreen bottles to sneak on their alcohol. Exhibit A of why I don't go on these things with these trashy arse people.

Yes, but when you take it on board they take it from you and give it back to you on the last day of your cruise. UNLESS you sneak it on from there.
