Going thru a separation/divorce initiated by wife because I don't put her "feelings" first.

Soon to be ex wife's vehicle is in my name because I financed and paid for it. Car is paid off and I have the title. How do I officially sign title to her so I can drop her off my vehicle insurance policy?

Thanks

Real answer.
Print blank act of donation off of internet. Go to notary, both sign and have it notarized. Bring title with you to notary as well, both sign that and have that notarized. Pull plate off, go to DMV and turn it in. Get copy of cancelled registration, make sure you keep copy of the notarized donation letter. Call insurance and cancel. She'll have to go to DMV and put it in her name...and take a class on feelings! Kidding. Good luck.

Damn. That's a lot of cooperation I am gonna need from her. I was hoping I could just sign title over and move on with my life.

What is that going to cost at DMV? I'm sure I will end up paying for it to get it done, or god knows when she will be able to take care of it.

The notary will take the plate saving you a trip to the DMV. FWIW.

So does she need to get her own insurance in her name before I cancel registration or do we go to notary and she leave with the vehicle without a plate and then get insurance and new tags?

Can a title place like Thibs Titles in Broussard handle this transaction? I would love to not have to go to the DMV
