I just switched to Capital One because I needed a bank that operates both in Louisiana and Virginia. I'm deciding on a new credit card and figured I'd keep it at the same bank. Does anyone have any suggestions on which of their cards to use. I've had one with Wells Fargo for a while and have above average credit so it's not like I'll be starting from scratch.

ETA: Thanks Y'all! Just got approved for the Venture card. It's amazing how fast it is now. If y'all still have any stories about how good/bad it is I'd still appreciate it.

Capital one is awful top to bottom and I wouldn't recommend that Mickey Mouse organization to anyone.

I've had them since they bought Hibernia and I've been really happy with them. My wife and I have savings, checking and CCs with them and never had any issues

I have a capital one card that I pretty much never use. The American Express Starwood card has the best/most generous rewards of basically all credit cards.

Venture card typically starts you with a 20k limit and you move up from there.

The Venture card or Quicksilver card are both good options

Why? Look at different rewards cards and decide based on that.

Yeah, that's about the only thing I really find it useful for. I can never find giftcards I want and account credits are only 1/2 as much as the travel redemption

I've had nothing but good service and experience from Capital One. I recommend them to all my friends.

Now that we helped you pick out a credit card and gave you the scoop on NOLA, anything else you need the OT to do for you? Line up some movers for you? Select a cable package?

We are here to help you along your journey.

I'm very aware from how much I've asked of the rant today and already laughed at myself a bit. I already have movers lined up and I think I've settled on Cox because they have higher available speeds in my address (150 mp/s) compared to ATT which maxes out at 72 mb/s at my address. Don't think I'll be getting cable. Just an internet package.

The Venture card is a waste of money after you earn the bonus.

It is essentially a 2% cash back card. They call them "miles" but that is marketing.

There are now numerous 2% cash back cards on the market without the $59 annual fee nor do they have the silly restriction to travel expenses only. So after you get the bonus downgrade to the regular Venture (or cancel) and never use it again except to keep it active.

Capital One marketing department is pretty good, so they're doing a good job.

Obviously, the best strategy with cash back cards is to get numerous ones (almost all no fee) that cover various categories and use each card for each situation, but you may decide that is too complicated.
