Got a bad one under my tongue that won't go away and is pretty painful.

I've had the same for two+ weeks. Had it checked out and biopsied by an oral surgeon on Thursday; will get results in a week. If yours has been there awhile without diminishing in size or pain, you might consider doing what I did.

Silver nitrate sticks are good, but they can be pricy. Hydrogen peroxide works pretty good, just make sure to dry the canker sore with paper towels/tissue as best you can then apply with q-tip. Food grade hydrogen peroxide works the quickest, but regular 3% should get rid of it in a couple of days.

*edit to add

Food grade h2o2 is some bad stuff. You can actually burn skin tags and minor warts off with it, so if you get ahold of some, be careful when applying it. Also, please don't drink it. Although it would seem to be understood, there are many who swear by h2o2 therapy, but it is a powerful oxidizer and drinking it is dangerous

Swab it with iodine. Burns like a mother but will clear it up.

Saltwater doesn't really work. Canker sores feed off of an acidic environment. Saltwater has a neutral pH. You need baking soda--it's all about the base.

Used to get them all the time. 2 1000 mg Vitamin C once a day. Gone in 2-3 days.

Started dipping when I was 10-years-old and quit (cold arse turkey) for 5 years about 10 years ago. A few years back started dipping when I was working nights. I quit again in September by doing this: day one - after finishing a dip, set timer on phone and didn't take another dip for 3 solid hours. Day two: same thing, but for 4 hours. Finally, day three - same thing, but 5 hours. Once my can was empty on day 3, I just didn't buy another can and suffered until the cravings subsided to a tolerable point. There's no easy way to quit, except through determination and sheer will power - good luck my man...

You're welcome! Here's some more tips: chew sunflower seeds and gum; if eating or drinking makes you crave tobacco, then do less of it, temporarily; and go to bed earlier the first week you quit - it helps out with the urges and headaches, etc.
