Wrong.

Don't accept a certified check either. Those can be printed on a simple printer and forged.

Only accept cash and meet at your bank and put the cash in the bank while he stands next to you.

Then sign the title over to him in the bank in front of high def cameras.

R11, it is a very common scam. Somebody tries to buy everything that I sell on Craigslist in this manner.

I did make one of those frickers overnight me a check from some university twice. It looked very real. He cussed me when I said that I had lost the second one and needed him to send a third. He chalked that loss up to the game.

These people are pretty good at what they do.

One quick google told me everything these guys are seeing. Obviously a very common scam. It gets old with people pulling this kind of shite.

Wire transfer: his bank to your bank. The fee is about $25. Tell him you'll pay the fee and then your bank will coordinate with his bank to transfer the funds. Your bank will verify the funds. He cannot frick you this way. This is the only way I would do this in a remote transaction.

I've even went into banks where I didnt have an account. I have never had one refuse to run the cash through their machine that counts and verifies the bills.

Winner.

I'd do this from either side of a transaction as long as I felt like the other party was legit and represented the merchandise in good faith.

Local pickup,is never an option for a PayPal seller. There must be delivery confirmation or PayPal will side with the buyer every time. If he is willing to have the bike shipped to the confirmed and verified address on the account you are fine.

Otherwise it is a scam and buyer is using a hacked account.

What if I told you that it's not actually PayPal they sometimes end up using. They send out scam links and all kinds of links. Google craigslist PayPal scams. It's a good read

I almost fell for a scam where the guy was gonna have his mover pick up the ticket ect. ect. on cragislist. Went to the bank and told them i had a fake check. Little bit different scenario but same principle.

Let me be frank, he is absolutely fricking scamming you, since others are on the fence or giving poor advice. PayPal will always side with whomever isn't you, there is no rhyme or reason other than scammers know what they are doing, and you don't. At 7k the bike isn't valuable enough for a search radius of 350 miles and him buying without seeing it. He's stealing your bike, point blank

I've seen various versions of this scam, but you're right, it's a scam. 100%.

Yes, you can get scammed with PayPal. It happened to me not too long ago, but luckily, I got my money back.

I wouldn't buy or sell anything thru PP friends and family with someone you don't know.
